Default The Modder's Curse/Ringu Ain't No Thang!

Well folks - today I'm going to do something a little different. Normally I'm a born skeptic, and loathe all things superstition, but I'm a firm believer in the modder's curse. The origins are unknown, but the fate... I know well. The Ring/Ringu is the closest comparison I can make, but you'd be lucky to think death awaits, ohh no. See, the modder's curse lasts until it passes on, death isn't an escape from it. To pass it on isn't as simple as slapping a VHS tape and showing it to someone, the Modder's curse is far more evil in the fact it requires passing it on in the form of work.

Let me tell you the toll this most evil of curses took upon me - countless cases, dozens of cans of paint, 6 containers of dremel cutting disks, sandpaper in mass, and other such assorted tools became useless bits. Two years of Hell!!! I figured I'd suffer it's affects til it'd leave, maybe it'd leave me alone after 6 cases... maybe a dozen. No, it just haunted me, mocking me, making my paint orange peel like you've never seen. Folks - when you're afflicted, you will not wonder, you will know. A small black cloud will hover near whenever you so much as think about picking up your dremel.

The curse can only be passed on one way - get someone else to help with your modding project. This is also my greatest shame, as I passed it onto the honorable Digital-World. But he luckily was able to pass it on within a weeks time, but he knows full well the evils of this curse and can vouch for it's existance. You have any idea how hard it is to pawn off parts of a project? Yeash, the curse is definately worse than getting rid of a bad ex that doesn't get the clue!

Anyways, folks. Heed my warning! Be wary of modding project assistance requests that you know the asker should be able to do on their own. They may be afflicted, and trying to pass it on to you! The toll of it is great in the forms of mental anguish and the pocket book. Today you are warned.

There is a parallel to this Modder's Curse: The Reviewer's Curse.

Iateronmly already had the curse when he received a certain case to review: the pile of dead Dremels and hardware can attest to that. Then, once he sent the case along to me...things started happening. In one PC's worth of hardware, I had two sticks of RAM that were no good, a 320GB HDD arrive DOA and to make bad into worse, my DVD burner died.

Since I just got around to the RMAs and ordered even more hardware, I really need to be done with this wretched affliction. I had a buddy do me a few favors lately and I had an opportunity to help him pick up his dead car 60 miles away, so I took an entire evening to help him trailer it home. Just in case that wasn't enough for the payback, I gave him a review PSU I had laying around for good measure. As much as it sucks to say....I hope that I'm rid of the curse. Oh, he's a generous guy and if I did indeed pass it on to him, he'll be rid of it soon enough. If not, perhaps I should go give some stuff to my enemies. Hmmm...

This curse does not need to be passed through assitance of work, its almost as bad as cars,, once you see your buddy with the lights and sound system your afflicted and then have a urge to pump extra watts into you stock system up and intill you can afford speakers that run on even more watts

The modders curse was given to me in a different form, gallerys and worklogs, after i read the wall worklog, and we through many a worklog on here then to top it off the links to modding sites (mostly MNPCtech) it came pon me to start whati feel will never end, a modders life for me...

Once i share my work with others it will never end, already i mod old socket370 case's as well as every borg i own im working a mod for it, my life will revovle, and i doubt ill ever be the same.

Yeap, Ive been effected by this twice...Not so much the 2nd time, I just got lazy and I didnt want to use my brain for something artistic...I think I ran into problems or something. I see the case everyday, and I think "Yea, I'll get to it tommrow" Or Im bored, I see the case and Think "Maybe I should get started sanding" and I dont do it..

Maybe I just lost intrest in it. I do feel like in order to properly belong here, I have to complete atleast 1 case...besides my case anyway..

Lazy-The other Disease that curses us...
