Talking This Saturday's Guest Writer...Nerdz!!!

Another Saturday, and another spot for a guest writer! So while I attempt to go futz with this lawn mower...please help me welcome this Saturday's Guest Writer...Nerdz!!! Nerdz has been around for quite sometime now and he was ready and willing when I asked him to take this Saturdays Guest Writer Spot.

Oh and before I post Nerdz's write up...I saw a pic this morning and it reminded me of his avatar lol

Nerdz here...
I logged on the net, to my surprise I was chosen for the DD guest writer. I think its an honor writing for as a DD guest writer. By now, Im pretty sure you all now me...(maybe except for a couple people..but thats ok). As of this writing Im 17, and Ive been a member of PR since Novemeber 28, 2003. Ive had my share of laughs and everything else that goes on around here. Currently I have no job ( ) but wish I did. I enjoy Electronics, science (probably chemistry and physics) computers and modding them. Some of you probably say I think to much about things..which I probably do, But this next topic, might make no sense to you at all. I may have one of those minds where Im too complex for people to understand (like einstein) or I have to simple of a mind where people miss my point entirely. Some day though I'll get to reading einstein's theory of relativity though...Without any further ado, This weeks topic is:
Space Why is it black?
Space has long been a mystery to modern man. We've Traveled the moon, and landed a robot on mars. We have even sent probes onto comets and even further; to explore the other planets. One night I was thinking, Why is space Black?
We all now black is the absence of color and/or light correct? But how can there be an absence of light when there are a billion + stars around? If so, Would space look like you took regular space and used the negative feature on photoshop? Space Wouldn't be black, it would be white.
Well Why not? Space it self is a weird thing. We do not even know if it is bound by the laws that govern us here on earth, so we are only left to speculate and theorize. Space isn't a white ball of light with blue stars because of one thing: Distance. But that then makes one wonder, Where does the black matter that makes it dark come from? Sure, here on Earth things get foggy and what not once you start leaving a certain point. But do they become black? No.
The dark matter must come from some where, It has to. We all know with out good there is no evil, with out evil there is no good, so the following statement must hold true, with out light there cannot be dark, and with out dark there cannot be light. Simple really, If the statement I said is true ( the whole sky would be white instead of black at night) then the black background is there to counteract the force the stars white light. If it is false, then what other reason is there for the sky to be black?
Everything has to be balanced or else something catastrophic will happen. What would happen if there were too much light? We would all get UV poisoning and surely die if we were to step outside. If it were too dark, our skin wouldn't be able to produce Vitamin D, and we would still die. So as you see, the forces have to be balanced.
Space will probably still remain a mystery to us. We still don't understand its physics, unless we do experiments like Sir Issac Newton, but that might require some machine to be built in order to do so (I'm not saying like a rocket, something complex...the..err..”Physics Machine”)
I might be getting a job. I recently (today) put in a job application at Stop and Shop. The computer told me to go to the front desk and ask for the manager. I take that as a good thing, as all the applications Ive put in never gave me that message.
So now I leave you with a big thanks to the DD team for choosing me this Saturday, and to everyone else who will reply to this! This Also Goes out to a special Friend Of Mine, Amanda Whom I lost 1 Year Ago on 8-2-04, May she rest in peice.

well since there's no matter in the space between the stars and planets, isn't there nothing for the light to reflect off of?

If you think about it you never actualy "see" light, you only get to see the refections of what it hits. There is also more light than you think because as humans we only "see" the narrow band of light ROYGBIV, when there is also UV infer-red ect.

For a little bit i thought you were going to go into the subject of "dark matter" of other dimentions. Anyone remember the show "Sliders"??

great write up

lol I don't think I could ever sleep outside. Even when we'd camp out I really can't remember a time I got more than 3-4 hours of sleep. The Sky does look beautiful out of my window tonight though

You are asking the right questions, and you have some intresting points..
But I was a little thrown off by a "Physics Machine" and the reference to Newton

As to why the Universe is Dark, I have something for you to think about.

Put a single 60 watt light in the center of a 100,000 sq/ft dark room, and it will only light just a small portion of it.

From what I gather...the distance between stars is so vast, there just aren't enough stars to do the job.

It's easy to be fooled though, look up at the stars on a clear night and you see what appears to be an infinite number of them, they practically look like there sitting right on top of each other...

But they aren't, it's all "Relative"

One I often contemplate:

We all know that Einsteins theories work in the physical world, yet they are useless in the Quatum World, wich has different rules. He died trying to figure out a way to combine the 2 into a single "Unified" theory.

What if...

The entire universe was just a single atomic particle in the thumbnail of a giant?

(From the original Star Trek TV series during a conversation between the Evil Genius "Khan" and Captain Kirk)

Let that one roll around in your head for a while...

EDIT: Incarnate, yeah man..Sliders was kick ass! (At least the first few seasons..then it got kinda dumb)

If it were bright at night wouldn't that mean they were in Alaska where they don't have dark nights?

)

Quantum world?Well you see, he really didnt die. His molecular structure broke down. He still exsists though. He can reform and reshape himself in any thing. His body no longer has to abide by the rules of physics, because his body is stuck in a quantum state, where no rules apply. (I made that up...)

So then I'll probably die finding a way to solve everything with Triangles...ITS POSSIBLE! I know it is...Using pathageroens theorum (right triangles) to solve things other than right triangles. (triangles with angles greater or less than 90 Degrees)

all you need to know it how to use sine cosine and tangents, and you can solve any triangle. sorry i had to ruin it. lol
