Default Block-head...

Well, mark your calendars...Rob has temporary writer's block.

Actually, I'm pretty fried right now. Since Friday morning, I've only gotten about seven hours of sleep. Why? I have no idea. It's not from worrying about work, gaming too much, or school. Well, maybe school. Because of my early morning class on Saturday, I have to stay up past my bedtime (normally 5 a.m. after I get off work) to get to class. Once I come home, it's the middle of the day and there is no way that I can get any sleep. Saturday night rolls in and next thing I know, I'm all fired up (because that's the usual time I'm at work). By the time I wind down, it's 6:30 a.m. and it's light outside again.

So, since I can't sleep, I get up and go out to clean my Jeep out. I finish up around 8 a.m., go in do dishes, and other housework. I finally get sleepy around 1 a.m. Monday morning and crash pretty hard. For some stupid reason, I wake up at 5:30 a.m. this morning, stumbling and dizzy as hell because I'm so tired. Since I can't get back to sleep again, I sort through my mail (I only do this once every two weeks), pay some bills, format some mini-discs, make some phone calls, shower, bring some dinner to a co-worker, go to school, run other errands, and get home just in time to shower and go to work.

My head is about to bounce off the keyboard right now...

See how I ramble when I'm on the verge of collapse from exhaustion? This is it.

Lesson?

Don't work full-time, go to college full-time, and move your house in the same week that you have finals.

Never mind...I got rid of the signature. A couple of people complained about it so I voluntarily pulled it. Apparently, these same people do not have a problem with the Babe thread, either, so I guess it's personal.

Who cares, anyway. I've got the original, unedited one anyway...and I'm not sharing that one.

Might want to think about what this is doing to your body, if you keep this up, you can pass out without any notice, probably behind the wheel...it kills more people than drunk driving does these days.

I am not tryin to chew ya out, but it's pretty seriuos.

People say they can handle it, but I knew a friend growing up that thought that too until he wiped out 6 cars one night on the way home from school during finals..he was working alot and had a girlfriend, so he never had a chance to get caught back up on sleep.

See a doctor if you get like this often, or try some over the counter pills, take them about 20 minutes before bedtime...but you have to alot at least 7-8 hours for sleep before taking them, or you will feel very groggy with less, better not to take them if you can only squeeze in 4 or 5 hours.

EDIT:
Tip..if you can at least close your eyes and "Meditate" for 20-30minutes, it can give you a little bit of a boost, it allows some of the chemicals in your brain that make you feel tired to dissapate some.

Someone famous (Can't remember...Edison?) used to cat nap 20-30 minutes throught out the day, and get maybe 4-5 hours at night, but that was before they cars as main transportation!

Uh..no thanks.

$Solid$, insomnia runs pretty rampart through my mother's side of the family. Also I'm pretty sure that I don't have a proper mattress for my sleep style. I've looked into that foam mattress, plus the sleep number deal, but I'm going to consulte a doctor first about it.

Actually what does help quite a bit is taking a hot shower about an hour or two before bedtime. It's a luxury that I don't abuse because then it would become a requirement to get some sleep, but once a week, I'll do that and get a really heavy eight to ten hours of sleep out of it (when doctors now say that seven hours is the right number to get).

Good deal Rob!

Glad to see you have plan of attack for this, It can cause other long term health problems as you probably are aware of, and knowing that you have a family history of it makes it all that much more critical to nip it in the bud.

After knowing what happened to my friend, I take my sleep seriously...I know it sux, but I have called in a few times to work when I have had Insomnia, most of my jobs have been to dangerous to skimp out on it.

Some people say it's like putting money in the bank... yeah, you can get by with 4 or 5 hours for a few days, but you still need to make it up, try to get in 9 or 10 on the weekends.

Although I'm not heavily into supplements, I did have a period during recuperating from a cracked rib that I just couldn't sleep. Not wanting to take narcotics from the doc, I took a friend's advice and picked up a bottle of Volarian Root and Passion Flower mix. I had tried Melatonin before with no noticeable effect, but the Volarian Root/Passion Flower did the trick. Take it an hour or two before you know you need to be in bed. The nice part is I had no side effects at all, and awoke feeling refreshed.
