Cool Random thoughts for today...

Random thoughts for today...

School has really been upsetting me lately...well, two of my three classes. One is the basic introductory course called "Introduction to Personal Computers". That's fine; however, we are having to write a "Student Development Plan" which has nothing to do with computers. The questions start off o.k. with things like, "List five news stories from the past six months concerning your program of study". However, by the end of it, they ask, "what are some non-work related things that could prevent you from finishing your degree in your program of study (i.e., health problems, family problems, financial obligations, etc.)".

WTF?

The school has no damn right to demand a peek into my private life. At my age, I actually considered the entire "Student Development Plan" an insult to me. I spoke with the program chair about it today and he mentioned that it was something the Dean implemented and he wasn't that familiar with it. So, he promised to check into it for me.

The other class I'm having trouble with is my Research Methods, which is a 300 lvl class taught online (big mistake and I told them as such). I have absolutely no idea what the hell I'm doing in there so what does one do when they have an extensive background in the military and the government? I bullsh*t. When I asked the teacher last week how I'm doing, she said great. She also said that she uses it as a measuring stick to grade the other students against. Go figure.

Still chugging along in the MMO, "City of Heroes". Since learning how to actually play my archtype hero, I'm enjoying it more and more. I'm finally up to level 48 with level 50 being the max. I imagine that I'll hit that either tomorrow or by Wednesday at the latest.

It's taken ahold of me; however, I still retain control. While I'll voluntarily forgoe a couple of hours sleep just to play, I've never had it iterfere with my work.

I could go on and on about this game, but I imagine that the majority of you are really tired of me talking about it so I'll spare you.

Got a fellow PR member that's going under the knife tomorrow. I'm kinda worried about him but I didn't want to let him know. Hopefully, he's in bed by now so he won't see this before the surgery. He's become a pretty good friend of mine and I would feel awful if anything was to go wrong. However, I'm keeping my spirits high and sending him good thoughts. I won't mention his name because it's his business but he is a regular that everyone likes.

Really looking forward to having some PR friends in town for the upcoming Stompfest here in Indy. Digital-World has said that he's coming and he's dragging $Solid$ along whether he wants to come or not. I'm pretty sure that HappyCamper can hook up with us on that Sunday, too. I'm telling you...it would be an awesome site if Glitterkill, Froggie Girl, SpikeShot, and Jess (along with any of the Tenn peeps I may have missed) could attend Stompfest, too. What a party that would be!!!

Unfortunately, I can't actually attend Stompfest myself because that is the same weekend that the Potawotami are observing their annual rememberance of the Trail of Death. Since I am descended from the Potawotami tribe on my father's side, I want to attend to gain a better understanding of my ancestoral roots.

Wish I could fill you in, but I'm really, really hating my job now. This change of career could not come soon enough in my life. I promise that I will reveal all once I am free and clear (non-classified info only).

Well, these are my thoughts for today and I thought that I would share with you all. Not asking for advice, compassion, and/or sympathy...heck, even responses as I have it all well under control. Just wanted to give you a peek into what was running through my brain today...

Until next week, stay safe out there.

Well, there's a couple of things that you could do:

The school crap......just give em a line, add some fluff and make it yours (Long as you get a grade out of it...who cares)

The job issue............have you looked in http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/ They have alot of jobs for people with active security clearences so you don't lose that gov't pension.

Unhappy Retention

My brother works for a hoity-doity Art School
My wife teaches math for a community college
They both hear the same magic words from their deans "RETENTION"
It's expensive to find students and its expensive to get students to show up so its worth spending a lil money to figure out how to keep them.
Thats all the questions are about - how to we keep you from dropping out so we can have the maximum number of your dollars.
