| Well it might be a rainy and depressing saturday here in Baltimore..but the good news is that our guest writer for today is...anime-fan-man!!! anime-fan-man sounds like an alias for some sort of super hero, and if you click on his profile you'll see that he has some cool pics of the KOS-MOS from Xeno saga and she's rocking some heavy artillery. That's hot... SO...moving to the article...anime-fan-man has given us three shorties for today. Here we go, enjoy! __________________________________________________ __________________________ Three short Stories By: Chris Samaripa AKA anime-fan-man Gaming Degrees lol The video game Industry, is it really the place to be these days. More and more I’m seeing Degree’s in Video Game Design and Programming but the skills that are being taught are just video game and basics. Okay well the problem is that the game industry is getting too big and people don’t buy crappy games and when so much is being made and people aren’t buying it, well layoffs begin and well individuals with that video degree don’t stand much of chance against people with real programming degrees and real art degrees. If you think about who makes the best games, okay now think about the staff that is working there, think those guys went to school to make games? Doubt it big time, most of the programmers know multiple languages and some know machine and core process programming, they won’t be teaching you that in game school. And the artist’s went to art school and learned much more then just 3d tools. I’m so sick of those commercials with the happy people saying “I can’t believe I got a job making games†, yeah right your so an actor hired to feed lies that video game degrees cut it in that field. The standard’s for any game company require experience and a real know how in what your applying for. At the rate that games are getting more and more complex and graphically intense and not to mention how crazy some of the engines and sound systems are getting. All at the same time game consoles are becoming more like computers every day, but the hardware is very little weak and hard to program for due to it being custom. I really doubt green horn two year programmers are going to be getting a good job at any repeatable gaming company here or any where in the world. If you were an employer who would hire a 2-4 year degree in games, or a 4-8 degree in computer programming and sciences. Easy choice there, the 4-8 with a real degree and experience. I’m just sick of people believing that a gaming degree will get them a job, and I’m currently laughing those in gaming classes, I have more programming skills then them, and I’m Information systems guy. I don’t know what those guys are going to do when they graduate. Anime companies suck! Switching tracks to the anime and import entertainment industry, which in my opinion is still way behind and continues to be lack luster at best. They still over charge for their products, make bad translations, are horrifically slow at bring a product to the US/Canada, and give a bad image to anime. Every time something good is created, companies like ADV and Funamation some how manage to get it all Wrong, the best example of this is a show called Love Hina. This show was great and when it here I bought one dvd and holy crap I wanted my money back as soon as I heard the damn thing. The voice actors were all from the DEEP DEEP DEEP SOUTH, oh my god they let red necks do the voice acting for Japanese women. This truly made me angry and oh man it pisses me off when this happens, and the sad thing is it’s happening way too often to be funny. And in the manga world, I’d like to send a message to Tokyo Pop the worst manga translators EVER!!!! This company goes as far as changing the character names, dialog and they add there own dialog to “make it cooler for American,†this is an insult to any real anime fan. I’m sorry if I’m sounding off like an angry Otaku but I am. The best new source for anime and manga is the Internet before it becomes licensed by US companies, I am opening my own site to help people find this good un-tainted anime on the net for free. Check it out on my sig on pimpRig. Terrorists are Cowards Lastly on my DD post I’d like to Express my feelings of anger and sadness for you guys over in England, I’m so angry at those Terrorist pricks, and I’m very sorry people were killed and injured by them. I think the whole world should be in Iraq fighting the war with us but that’s just not the case. This is not a topic I enjoy writing about because it’s very easy to make people upset, but I still must touch on it and it is cold subject. One other thing I’m saying is there are still countries against us and England being in the Middle East, like France. It’s really mean to say but to those who are haters out there when a terrorist hits your country, you may change your mind about us. I hate boat jumpers and people who talk smack and don’t put up any thing for all the smack they talk. Thanks for reading my Saturday DD post I hope to post again sometime and maybe one day become a PR writer/reviewer, don’t forget I’m a computer nerd too. __________________________________________________ __________________________ Good stuff bro and thanks for the write-ups! | ||
