| Well it is another Wednesday and that means time for me to write about something. I got to thinking after talking to Iat. He mentioned something that might go over well and might not, who knows only time will tell. Well it seems that things are getting a little soft around here. So let’s talk about smoking. Nothing goes better with a good stiff drink or root beer than a cigar. Thanks to my mom’s soon to be husband and my addiction to smoking I now have the humble beginnings of a pretty good collection. So what little I know about cigars I thought I might share some tips with you and in return you can share yours. First thing I learned was never light a cigar with a lighter or paper match. If you bought a box of cigars or go to a cigar shop ask for the cedar liner that comes in the boxes. If you use the liner light that with a wooden match……. Or use a wooden match. Never light a cigar just after striking the match it will tarnish the taste of a cigar. Let it burn a while. Do not puff in and out lighting a cigar. Slow steady pulls of breath and slowly rotate the cigar to get an even light. Second this is “light†colored cigars go great with light colored beer, red wine, and pasta. Dark colored cigars (a.k.a. Robusta) go great with dark beer, whiskey and the all American cookout. If you spend the time and cash on a cigar do not bite the end off invest in a cigar cutter, punch or scissor. From what I have learned the scissors are the best but expensive. So I use a punch instead, got a real cool one that goes on a key chain…..like a boy scout now I am always prepared. For storage I use a zip lock baggie in an old cigar box. Hey I know it is not classy but I have to buy computer gear. Last but not least if someone became a dad, got married, or bachelor party do not be skimpy on getting good cigars for everyone. This may be the last time the poor soul can smoke in doors. Ok I know this is not for everyone but I hope you enjoyed a Wednesday guys night out. Here is a picture of my little collection. | ||

| I hate cheap cigars. I LOVE a good cigar. I only smoke one every couple of years but a good cigar is something to savor. I will never forget when I was leading a convoy while in the 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry and we were headed out of Bosnia after the initial IFOR deployment. Our Chaplain had gotten some damn good cigars from somewhere and passed them out to a few folks, I ended up with one. As I led the convoy heading North across the Sava River, I lit the cigar and stuck my hand out the window showing the center number one back to the country we just left. When I looked in the mirror I saw that just about every vehicle in the convoy was showing the same center one, including the Chaplain's vehicle. I can't say if it was actually him throwing the bird, but I have my suspicions. | ||

| I loooved the smell of cigars when my grandfather was still around...they smelled so good..Ive heard you used to get cuban cigars from some place...or smoked a couple. He used to have 1 beer and 1 shot of whiskey in the morn, then in the after noon, and then at dinner time...smoked a cigar inbetween... Infact..I have one of his containers he used for cigars....and I think it still smells like em too.. | ||

| Great article....I'll have to show it to a few of the students at ITT Tech. Unfortunately, some of these young kids smoke some that smell like they picked up an old dog turd and lit it. What makes it worse is they like to light these dog turds right outside the student entrance at 7:30 in the morning. Rob | ||

| I like the cheap cigars from convenience stores! There's nothing like a Philly that costs less than a dollar! I buy one every now and again, because I like the taste of them and like the way it makes my lips taste afterward. But then again, I always get the fruit-flavored ones. I need to try a real cigar, like something from this shop around here. | ||

| I really can't understand what the attraction is to Cuban cigars. Granted, they did make great cigars back in the 50's, but ever since communism took over the country, most of the mid-lvl quality has gone to the crapper. If the Cuban cigar is less than $35, then you can bet your butt is sub-quality. However, simply attaching the name "Cuban" to the cigar increases its price, irregardless of the quality. Oh, and besides, importation of Cuban products of any type into the United States is prohibited (i.e., illegal) by the Office of Foreign Assets Control in the U.S. Department of the Treasury. | I love to enjoy a good cigar with my brother and cousins at a bi monthly Lamb roast. They slow cook the lamb for 6+ hours and it is all you can eat and drink. After we are all full of lamb we sit back and enjoy cigars (i have smooked the one on the far right and my cousin had a box of Onyx) and we play cards. Cigars are also great for the forth of July | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | I dont smoke, dont see the point. My friend buys swisher sweets every once in a while. Flavored tobacco, the point eludes me, always will. Although I dont like to smoke, all three of my siblings smoke and I like the smell and have gotten quite comfortable around it. I guess I should go ahead and smoke anyways, all the second hand smoke will kill me eventually . | |
