Default This realy BLOWS (300MM Case Fan Test w/Video!)

What better way to cool of your Lan Rig on the 4th of July?

I know Digi-World ran for cover and broke out the headphones, just to hear his games when I fired up this sucka at his house this weekend!

EDIT: Here is the Medium Quality Video with Sound (15MB)
http://digitalworld.pcapex.com/300mmfantest.wmv

Just for the record, the system consist of a Mobile 2500+ @ 2.5ghz 1.775v (Bios) using a SP-97 with a 80MM low speed fan on a DFI LP NF-2 and a X-800Pro.

With only the power supply and CPU fan running after 20 minutes, case temps were a warm 44c, and the CPU was hotter than the 4th of july at 50c...I wouldn't even attempt to put a load on it at this point

After turning the fan on at a very low speed (Nearly inaudable with the rest of the ambient noise in the room) this still moves a good amount of air...CPU temps dropped a bit to 46c, with a major drop in case temps to 34c.

A medium fan setting produced a fair amount of noise, but dropped the CPU temps to a decent 44c and 33c for the case, still idling with out any programs running.

Allrighty then...Going for Broke (Broken ear drums that is!)

Although the case temps didn't change drastically (32 to 28c) the CPU temps dropped sharply from 45c to 38c, it shows just how weak the 80MM fan I used for this tests was, if I had used my 80MM Tornado, the results would not be quite as dramatic.

Finally, lets see what happens below when a load is applied (Folding@Home)

42c load and 28c case temps with a full load are perfect for all night gaming at your friends..just be sure you bring enough earplugs for everyone!

I think you should add a rubber seal between the fan and the side panel to prevent it from vibrating. You should rig something around the fan to give it a cleaner look too.

Crazy-J, this is a bit of a sneak peak, strictly a functionality test. Paint, Lighting and other "Mods" coming soon...

BTW... High Perf, good call! this is a 110V Server Fan

Are those metal blades? I will be much more impressed if they are metal.

I imagine you velcro the rig to the table when it's cranked up.

LOL...no Velcro needed to keep her down, she's pretty heavy, but check out what happens to the drapes in the video when I crank it full blast!

And nope, just a plastic fan..wonder where I can find an Aluminum one with "Turbine" style fan blades

I love bonkers stuff like this. My old skyhawk (terrible) case had a circle in the middle, and I always thought it begged to have a household fan modded right into that circle. I think I still have the case. Maybe some day
