| Etiquette & English Gentleman | As a reader of the Daily Disturbance section, you probably don’t realise how much effort it is to come up with something to post twice a week – you probably think it looks easy … maybe you even want to have a crack at it yourself … The problem is not so much the actual writing – it’s coming up with the idea of what to write. Coming up with something relevant is difficult enough – unless you’re modding full time it’s not really an option, so the next best thing (making it amusing and/or informative) is often the best I can do … and sometimes not even that. I think I’ve ranted on all the subjects that pee me off, and I’ve posted at least once on all the modding techniques I can do … which only leaves increasingly bizarre top tens. Enough complaining though – I’ve come up with a plan to fulfil my commitment to post two 750-word articles a week. Whether or not they’ll be worth reading is another matter though. Actually … it’s more a fortuitous coincidence than cunning planning. My #2 rig has been looking a bit sorry for itself for some time. An unlucky paint choice has meant that time has taken it’s toll on the finish, overly enthusiastic window cutting makes it look dated, and the fact that I didn’t do any wire tidying after fitting the Ultra Products UV Series CC’s, fans & cables for reviewing purposes means it looks pretty unsavoury in daylight, even if it looked pretty impressive in the photos. I’m going to treat it to a new case, new psu, some sleevery bits, and sundry off-the-shelf “mods”. It’ll get some case handles, a couple of intakes/blowholes, and a window of some description. It won’t have the huge acreage of plexi that the current case has … I’m thinking more along the lines of a minimal cut out – my current favourite at the moment is the Trogdor pumpkin cut out I printed out on Homestarrunner.com. So, how does this impact on the Daily Disturbance section? Well, in addition to some mini reviews of all the new toys, I’m also going to pretend that I’m doing my simplistic mods specifically for the edification of modding newbies – so a few mini tutorials will also be forthcoming. Think I’ll get away with it? I’m hoping that having a number of articles ready to go will take off some of the pressure of coming up with ideas for posts here … which could be a good thing. Especially if you’re a fan of walruses. Failing that, I can always recycle some posts from 2003 & call it “The Best Of Jonny English” … in fact, I’ve already earmarked a dozen or so. ![]() | |

| I have to agree with ya Jonny, making a post about whatever is on your mind in the "Anything Goes" or posting some Overclocking results is a lot different than having to write on a schedule. I used to snicker a bit when Zenn or Iateronmly would be panicking the day before there Article was due, I thought "How can they run out of ideas when there is always som much going on?" Boy did I get a reality check.. I have a ton of ideas, but to actually put them down on paper, and make it fun to read...That is the real trick ![]() | ||
