Default No CPU blues...

When I was checking my G-mail yesterday, I came across a message from my Brother.
In this message there was a request for my new address and phone number.
So like any good brother would do, I replied and hooked him up with my new info.

I just wanna take this time and space to formally thank my Brother for being there
for our MOM. She turned 75 her last birthday. Him being a Police officer and all
the resposibility that goes with that, to be able to make Our MOM comfortable
and worry free in a time like we have these days, is totally COOOL.
He and his wife are raising their two girls,
and they are doing an outstanding job at that.

I am proud of him and his wife, for doing what most couldn't do.
They were high school sweeties, and they have backed each other up for
26 years now, and they are still goin' strong...KUDOS you Two!
Lord knows how many relationships I been through during that time...

Thanks everybody at Pimprig for listening to my story of gratefullness,
It needs to be said and this is the place where this won't fall on deaf ears...

Of course I won't fail to mention that they hooked me up with a very cool
birthday gift and a very important part
to the "bone-chiller" project:

an AMD Athlon 64 3400 DTR CPU...Thanks you guys,
that was a big part of the project that I was unsure of...

Well there you have it...CPU blues, no more,
from the camp...ZENNZZO style

Wow..you are very fortunate to have a Bro like that, he sounds like one hell of a good man!!!

Taking care of your Mom, his own family, and on a Cop's salary, still found a way to squeeze out a DTR for your B-Day!

Brrrr... Did ya feel that? I think i just got a blast of cold air from da "Bone Chiller" starting to come to life

Eh, what's DTR??
Just out of curiosity, who is older?

What a nice guy. I bet it's exactly what you wanted. New processor smell....

I would have gotten you a beard and mustache trimmer from the looks of your staff pic. A cool lookin' hat couldn't hurt either.

Happy b-day by the way.

DTR= Desk Top Replacement

3400+DTR 'ClawHammer" (2.2GHZ 1MB cache)
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-442&depa=0

Standard AMD 64 3400+"NewCastle" (2.4GHZ 512K cache)
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-488&depa=0

Notice anything else different?

Well Ryj,
My Brother is 4 years younger than I am, but waaay better looking
(He took the straight and narrow road and I, well, ahhh... didn't)
From the sounds of it you cannot grow a beard or mustache huh?
Keep after it, at 19 I didn't have a whole lot of facial hair.
And that hat is a Officially Licensed HARLEY leather ball cap...
What could possibly be better?

Differences? well...
1)Claw Hammer core (proven to exceed 3ghz)
2)Bare Assed Die (no IHS)
3)DTR has 11 multiplier and lower unlocked (275 x 11 will work)
4)Die has Zennzzo Direct Die Cooler written all over it
and better suited for direct phasechange cooling...

So far it's been pretty much a wash... the extra cache of the ClawHammer, versus the extra speed from the NewCastle cores, just depends on the test.

One thing I am looking forward to seeing is a 90NM socket 754, they should be shipping soon!
(AMD expects 50% of all wafer starts to be 90NM by the end of 2004)

From what I have seen on a pair of 939 versions compared back to back, they have added a few tweeks and optimisations under the hood that aren't in the older 130NM versions...worth a few points (1-5% depending on the bench)

Oops, I forgot my number one rule, to put a smiley after my last post since it was in jest.
Anyhow, of course the bare die stands out like a sore thumb.
