| Well the old members are definately right, the first 1000 are hard, 2000 sneaks up on yah, and 3000 will probably happen so fast it'll suprise everyone including myself. Almost everyone likes to make their mile-stones notable, and I am just the same. I started a trend for myself on the first 1,000 posts by stating how I felt about the current trends at PR. Also stated my deeply felt thanks to everyone that had helped me along the way too. I figure I'll continue on with this trend. But this time I'm going to cheat and copy many of the things from the first rant and make additions, or revisions as I feel reflect PR just 9 months later. Some I will delete in the name of length of this post, but still hold true in my eyes. The Following was posted by me in January of this year. Additional comments will be underlined. Well it's officially - I have no life and I've hit 1,000 posts. Well instead of just leaving it at "look at me! 1000 posts" Thought I'd make it quasi useful. My gripes and general observations. 1) Modding is a "Run whatcha bring" affair, we've got different classes. Older computers, newer computers, some insanely modded, others are premods awaiting their dremel time, it's all good. Next person to come to PR with more money than good sense and wonders why in the heck we aren't groveling at his greatness because he has a P4 Extreme Edition, 1.5 gigs of RAM, and Raptors in RAID5 and his store bought Alienware knock off case is gonna get an ear full. Still stand by it - but on another note we haven't had to much gloating about "31337 hardware" recently. It isn't what you buy, it's what you BUILD. 3) Benchmark pissin' contests. I'd like to change this one and state I feel that this is no longer a problem for PR like it used to be. Everyone seems to be more confident in their rigs abilities and a swing back towards modding and HW mix, instead of almost exclusively HW related when I made my first post. 4) I'm very happy to see someone ask a stupid question even - I'm all for eliminating ignorance when the questioner wants to. But for everyone that asks a question - I'd like to remind you, most of us are happy to advise, but that's it. Advise isn't an unconditional guarentee it'll work out right for you.... Still stand by it - I recently touched upon this yet again in a DD post a while back. 5) It's not always the manufacturer's fault. They don't have it in for you. But you normally get what you pay for. If you buy a cheap PSU - don't expect it to last long and do anything nice to your system. AMD locked it's multis. My addition to this one is. HEY! Mobiles ain't locked. We didn't realize it at the time 6) What's with people sayings "I'm going to wait for the next big thing" then when it's released say "That's to much cash, I'm getting what's already even more outdated now"? Nature of the beast eh? The more things change, the more they stay the same 8) Please for the love of all that's good in the world - don't take someone's review and take it as gospel. I can show plenty of reviews that can prove one thing- then another one that makes the origonal's stance look wrong. You got grey matter in that noggin' of yours, use it. If you don't, whats done is done. Thank you folks! I've had a great time during my 1k posts, and plan on many more. You folks are great. I'd like to add just one more major one in my eyes. What in the heck is up with some people's needing to talk about person real life problems with a bunch of fellow geeks anymore? RL friends do have their benefits at times! Thank you folks! I've had a great time during my 2k posts, and plan on many more. You folks are great. Iateronmly - The Rantin' Alaskan Hermit. ![]() | ||

Actually editing, and all the other BS caused this pile of manure to take longer than to write out a totally new one. ![]() Last edited by Iateronmly; 04-April-06 at 04:51 AM..

Oh. You're talking about those scary people outside my house, aren't you? Well, forget it bub! I get so scared just answering the door when the bass player...er, I mean, pizza delivery guy drops off my pizza. Hell, half the time I leave a $20 stuck in the door! Real life friends...jeez! Give me a break! What's next? A girlfriend? I know Halloween is coming up but there is no need to get downright terrifying on us. Rob P.S. You do realize, of course, that I'm only joking. ![]()
