Default Theme Selection or "How I Learned to Stop Caring and Love the Dremel"

So you got that prehistoric case from the days of beige and before anyone thought of making a production case with a window eh? You stare at it and your mind goes as blank as the slate is before you? Even the gallery surfing/viewing every major mod supply store doesn't spur an idea? Every wonder why I start most of my posts with a series of questions?

First off, don't ask me what to do with it. It's your case, and everyone on PR isn't a psychic (maybe a little psychotic though) that can divine the perfect answer for you. My advise to you is find a theme along the lines of whatever you do to much/spend to much on. ADD: Masturbation doesn't qualify and it's already been done, and we don't need anymore! Hopefully by doing this you'll get so burned out by it, you'll get up and go outside someday. I've seen a lot of your pictures, and came to the conclusion we need tanning bulbs instead of CCFLs in some of y'alls cases, but I digress.

Also remember you don't really need a theme either. You can just for example paint it with Mirage color shifting paint, add a window (or 2 or 3), hack out those fan holes and put 120s in there. Also lets not forget wire management, painting bezels, paint the interior of the case.... you know do a clean mod. They always get respect, and can't forget the chixors impression: you're an obsessive geek instead of way over the top obsessive geek. Hey, if you really wanted to impress the females you'd go lift weights and own a sports car not mod. Lets be honest with ourselves here folks.

Okay okay, so I didn't sell you off on doin' the standard list? You're as a stubborn mule, and I respect that. I can think of a few people sitting on the perfect case for months now waiting for that bolt of lightning to strike them and it generally does. So don't rush it. Inspiration can't be found by searching sometimes, it's like finding your car keys I s'pose. If you do find that perfect theme, go with it. Don't worry about someone already having done the same theme. No two cases ever end up the same, just don't try to copy the other person's exactly do it cleaner and with your own twist.

Have fun out there folks.

And how many "Projects" do you still have out in that old shed you mentioned the other night?

I still have not wired up my 300MM fan yet, only been sitting there for 6 months now..Hmm I think I found a name for my case...Project: "Procrasternation"

One of the hardest things about any project is finishing it, It's easy to let a snag or two get in the way...so don't "Byte" off more than you can chew!

Also... be sure to plan it all out beforehand... but, on that point, don't stick to the original plan if you came up with a better way to execute the ideas...

I'm 'bout ready to fire up the ol' spinny-wheel of case panel doom (+9) on my old Skyhawk... but I gotta pick the theme first.. its a real bugger.. been two weeks.. and I still got nothin'.

Nice post Later.

I would add this:
When you get Modder's Block on a particular project, run some ideas by your trusted buds. As a carpenter I have come to really appreciate the refreshing perspective of another set of eyes. This doesn't mean you should pester the crap out of everyone and steal all their ideas. You are still the master of your mod...just try getting a new perspective sometimes and don't be afraid to kick around the kookier ideas, sometimes they lead to the best solutions.

I haven't personally seen it yet, but I recon a huge case with some sort of Jungle theme too it would be neat...say an atrium sort of thing..maybe hide the HDD wires with creeping ivey (the plastic fake stuff of course...I dunno maybe go for that downed vietnam aircraft theme bullet holes in the side and the window framed out to look like a cracked canopy? I al;ways have ideas just not the bucks to implement
