TOP 10 things I just hate about moving...

10) Downsizing is never a fun thing, I didn't have enough room as is.

9) Who gets to decide what goes and what gets stored. Yeah I know.

8) That the cat's have more clothing and bedding than I do.

7) What am I supposed to say about all the small boxes in the closet?
I can't hardly say I got them for the move.

6) What do you do with a large lawn trash bag of assorted peanuts?

5) It was sooo much easier getting all this stuff up here over the past

year, ...getting it back down is gonna be a bust.

4) Where did all the money come from, that all this packing material

represents?

3) I'm gonna have to come clean, there's just no way she's gonna miss

and...small boxes pack mugs / steins like no one's business.

I've been in this house over 17 years and I still come across things I draged here from Jersey that I don't need.

How will you move your im-movable rig that has just grown and grown in size?

Imagine moving every 3 mos. due to attending a college with a co-op program... thats my next 5 years...From dorm room to apartment to apartment, every 3 mos.

also, keep in mind most of the co-op job positions i'm looking at require that I be on call and travel during my work term. Another challenge, i guess.

Moving in the past , was just a matter of stuffing the absolute nessesities in my gear bag and go...I started to get away from that scene when I got in to PC's.
Although it's an excellent way to get "out and away", it makes for some interesting baggage...

I hear what your saying Zennz - time was when I could bungee a tent & sleeping bag on the bike, throw some spare socks, chuddies, tshirts & wetwipes in a bag & be sorted ... packing for time away now means a lot of planning (especially making sure I've got all the right medications), and at least one large suitcase. Part of getting older I suppose.

As for moving house, despite my last being from a whole house to one room & a shed, I'm going to need a 25 ton truck when I move again


Have you ever noticed how things change in a move? One time a large box of LPs transmuted into a walnut framed watercolour of some donkeys on a beach. At least that's I assume what happened - I lost the former & gained the latter.

You only call it a laptop until you get one and burn your nutz once. Then it is forever your 'notebook' computer. Anyway, Since I am taking my full tower, my laptop (See! I got one!)and a 60lb toolbox, i'm glad i own a full size car. And i'm desperately trying to replace my 8 ton CRT. I've tried to shave off the list of crap to drag around, and with one month 'til d-day, i'm realizing that I own way too much stuff.

I have a friend going to the Air Force Academy.... they give you a laptop with security clearance on it when you arrive

I've moved 27 times in the past 14 years (pesty Witness Protection Program).

Here are some basic rules I've used.

1. If you can't pack all of your worldly belongings into your own vehicle (trailer optional), then toss it. It'll be cheaper in the long run.

2. Two words...yard sale.

3. Any questions, refer to #1 or #2 appropriately.
