| | Keep your eyes peeled.. Eye strain is a very real problem or threat for computer users far and wide, especially for those of us that spend hours staring at a computer screen whether it be for work, pleasure, or both. Most people tend not to think much about it until they realize theyÂ’ve been staring at the screen for 2 hours without having blinked as often as they typically would, and their eyes feel dry and burn.
This happens to me quite a bit, and IÂ’m sure IÂ’m not alone. So, I decided to be helpful and share just a few methods to reduce and prevent eye strain from not only computer use, but generally as well.
1. Try to sit between 20 and 24 inches away from the computer screen, and if possible, adjust the screen (or yourself) so that it is slightly below eye level.
2. Adjust the lighting in the room so that there is no glare or bothersome reflections on the screen.
3. Take a break every so often, and let your eyes focus on other objects to give them a bit of a rest.
4. Make sure to blink rapidly every so often to keep your eyes from drying out and becoming painful. Eye drops are also handy for keeping the eyes lubricated, of course.
5. If youÂ’re using reading materials of any sort, try to keep them at the same distance as the computer screen to reduce the amount of movement your eyes and head have to do back and forth, or side to side, etc.
6. A personal remedy I employ is to go lie down in my room in complete darkness for at least 15 minutes, with my eyes closed, and just relax. Not only do my eyes feel better when I get up, but I feel nicer overall. (Sometimes I fall asleep, but thatÂ’s not a bad thing. Heheh..)
There are plenty of other methods one might use to combat eye fatigue, but I decided to be concise today, lucky for yÂ’all. Take care, and be good to your eyes. ^_^ |
