| Direct Cool Hoe | Special little trick... I recieved my AMD 2500 mobile the other day. I was sooo happy. I put it on my NF7-s and and carefully applied some AS-5. Slid the block back in place and did a test fit. All good. Re applied the AS-5, put the hardware on and chinched her down. Next, was to get into BIOS and set her clocks. that went as usual, 200 x 11, 1.65 vCore and I was off and running. Everything was comming to life as expected, YEAH!! I decided to run a few benches, and get the TIM hot, so I could cycle it between load and room temp. Just like the instructions at the site say, this is the best way to get the AS-5 to cure. Cool, right on. Well cool enough but all was not right on... This thing sucked. I just took out a Ass-kickin' DUT3C capable of 2.7ghz, and all the goodness that the "TOP AMD PIMP" at the UPRBC entails, for a SLUG? Dammit to heck, I made a big mistake...hmmm. So I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to do. I get out my "Special things that make your CPU kick-ass" list, and I'm going through the check list and BAM! there it was in black and white. "BURN-IN" yeah! Well back to the BIOS and let me see here. How about, oh say 210 on the front side bus and a nice even 10 on the multiplier and well a crispy 2.15vCore, this is burn-in right?.. OK, I'm at my desktop, I open up SiSoftSandra click on the CPU burn in moduale. I set it up for arithmic calc, get rid of the memory test set it up for 100% usage no special amount of time and I get ready to click on Burn Baby Burn...AND I get ready to click on Burn Baby Burn...and I can't do it. I just gotta check the temps first. I really do want to have a Kick-ass CPU and I know this works but I just know I am forgeting something...everything checked out, fine so here goes nothing...Click, WOW, up goes the temp like 5C took a while but the steady climbed after each interval I'd look over and they seemed to stabalize. Now deep down, I really did want to RMA this one back so I could try to get a crack at one from the NJ wharehouse. The East coast wharehouse got the good steppings as it turned out and this one was shipped from the westcoast supply. Well I'll just slip away, and I won't have to witness the inevitable, She'll just take a crap and die and RMA it will be. A short trip to town to see a bud, pick up some groceries and such so we get back after a few hours put the food away, and I wander over to the rig... HOLY SH!T ...265 rounds of sandy and she is still alive!! I'm thinking trooper here now... so I shut it down and start calling her nice names... ![]() Well don'tcha know all she needed was a little heat and some repitition and she's just as fast as the DUT3C, matter of fact she has a phatter cache, and she can come within 1 second of the top a64 Pi eater...37seconds baby. I'll never underestimate the power of the burn-in again. It sorts out the winners from the wimps... Please use your common sense and if you screw it up Pimprig.com nor I am responsible. Your CPU, your Burn-in, your baby.. Well there ya have it... Bustin out big ass cache and eatin' Pi real fast ZENNZZO style Last edited by ZENNZZO; 17-April-04 at 12:57 AM.. | |

The directdie cooler is in the mail on the way back to me...it had a small mishap, in Ohio... But my current cooling consists of your basic high-end extreme elite, ubercool, unobtanium A , BIE2, 3-block system, one of a kind, that cannot be duplicated, at the moment. And since it's classified info ....well you know the drill...It has seen idle temps of 6c over ambient and just a few more like 8-9c at load.... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
