| Ooookay... MSN has recently blinded me with a report so insipid that I actually am trembling with a syrupy-crap overdose... Here's a link: Ten Reasons to Feel Good About the Future -  MSN Lifestyle - Mind, Body & Soul TEN THINGS TO FEEL JUST-FREAKIN'-SWELL ABOUT THE FUTURE: 1. Yes, we should all feel cheery about the state of feminism... Yes, after much bra-burning, demanding of equal rights and the like, we still see women exploited for our amusement. In fact, women are "empowering" themselves to CHOOSE to be exploited for our amusement (this is also known as selling out). Yep... if I were a chick, I'd be feelin' pretty good 'bout now. ![]() 2. Starbucks coffee Yep... with obesity and diabetes on the rise, the horrors of the dairy industry and the aforementioned "terror" of modern day living... a cup of overpriced joe makes it alllllll better. 3. The freedom to live with... coffee... If a cup of coffee is a symbol of sin from this gal's religious life... and her family frets over her addiction but don't actively knock it out of her hand and start stoning her being the paramount sign of acceptance in the world today... I believe we're all screwed. 4. Special Olympics... Okay... I'll leave this one alone. It's on my personal "don't" list for mockery. 5. Sitcoms Ooookay... yes, the fact that hacks are still churning out sitcoms is a true sign of mankind's progress and is a great sign for the future! yes, those whacky sitcoms help me see my foibles in a HILARIOUS light. Yes, I consider the hackneyed "writing" of a lesser talent suitable for psychotherapy. Do the commercials help me realize my worth through acquisition? 6. South Africa Yes, I consider racism inspirational when people can be optomistic about it! ![]() 7. Dogs Yep, dogs are a symbol of everything right in the world... if you ignore what we do to them. Puppy mills, fur trade (don't ask unless you're ready to hate humanity in a whole new light), dog fighting, Paris Hilton... I'd be scared to be a dog in this day and age! 8. The merge of Eastern and Western Culture Yes... much like a cup of coffee can be purchased, so can enlightenment. Yes, with a little time each week, a person can learn Yoga to be balanced (and increase our bodies natural capacity for trendiness), Tai Chi to lengthen their life and then they can go home and watch "Kung Fu" to complete their education... Of course, our culture's influence on China and Japan involves us fattening them up like James Coco on lead-based milkshake bender and teaching them the joys of being used as cheap labor. Yes... my hope for the future is soaring... 9. Life Coaching Yes, people are so screwed up and stressed they can't pull it together anymore... Let's exploit them! 10. Rollerblades(!?!) This is too insipid... If this is our hope for the future, it's time to put humanity to bed with it's favorite stuffed animal and hope the end is swift... Anyway, I'm not saying happiness is the realm of those who take pleasure is (VERY) simple things, but future optomism should stay in the realms of world-wide solutions such as green energy, or resolutions to world conflict... not a bloody cup of coffee and a pair of rollerblades. A person should take pleasure in simple things, but that's today. Tomorrow is that place where your actions catch up to you and effort might actually might need be made to ensure a decent ending... Aye yi yi... Anyway... sorry for posting again so soon, it's completely off schedule, but as I have a ton of homework this week, I wasn't sure about being able to do one next week... peace out. | ||

| This is the reason America is going to be owned by China soon. If the ability to buy cheap sh** and then hire life coaches for obscene amounts of money, while ignoring the way we are raping our environment and economy is considered "progress" America has no hope. | ||

| There's a few items there I'm to politically incorrect to address, but... I thought the whole point of sitcoms was to portray people stupider than we really are so we can feel better about ourselves and say, "I've made a lot of stupid choices, but at least I'm not THAT stupid!"... This woman is relating to them??? I once watched a show about an Asian family (no offense, but I don't recall...I think Japanese) and how they were integrating themselves into American culture and learning English by watching sitcoms. Scariest quote from the show, "Americans are exactly like Three's Company". Who needs a lifecoach when we have reruns to show other cultures how we deal with the serious issues in our lives? I think we're much more like the A-Team anyway. Rollerblades require pavement. IMO the world would be a better place with LESS pavement and the huge amount of oil it takes to make and maintain it. We don't have a single Starbuck's in my town, and that alone gives me hope for our future. | ||
