| Okay... so I ordered my new rig (finally, everyone can enjoy the sounds of silence as my bitching will cease... for a little while). Yes, it's a horrible time to do it, but my PC hasn't had stats worth mentioning in about four years and it has become a source of shame. Soooo... I have one hell of a box on it's way to me, filled with new partly-goodness. The bad thing... my shipping options were $50.00 ground, or $250 air and I didn't really have an additional $200.00 laying around... the other bad news is that I only ever seem to have the money to do these things during a freaking holiday season, and this year, Santa is going to be running late due to the fact UPS ground out of Texas takes five business days to deliver... Of course, I realize that patience is the best option, and I have to admit, I think I'm more excited about building it than owning it... I really wish it would have made it during my break from work! Now then... I've been to UPS' site every day since I've ordered. This is an exercise in futility as looking does not speed incoming parts any quicker. Anyway... by next year, I'll be coming to you from Quad-core/ SLi goodness... Happy holidays all and to all a good build! *- I'll probably edit this later... have to get going! | ||

| I wish I had known sooner that you were upgrading. I've got a friend that works for Intel. But he's only allowed to get (1) of each model a year and I think I've already bought all the quad's. But I could of got you a great deal on a C2D. What exactly did you order? Any hints/links cough, cough, cough. We all want to know :-) | ||

| I'd like to see an online retailer offer a package: "For $119 flat-rate, you get one bargain-class ticket round-trip to Los Angeles, a day's rent-a-car, and a map to the City of Industry so you can pick up the parcels yourself!" It drives me nuts that I could probably hitchhike there and back faster than it takes UPS to get my goodies there. | ||

| I feel your pain, DS... Whenever I order something that comes UPS, I generally check at least two or three times a day, until the day it's supposed to arrive. The the big day comes, and I check real quick on my way out the door to work. "5:00AM (insert date) ---> Out for delivery" Problem is, I KNOW the UPS guy comes by my side of town at one of two times a day... BOTH when I'm not there. Lucky for me, I have gotten to know the folks at the UPS center in Manhattan, so I just call and ask one of them to hold it for me when it comes in, and give me a call or something, so the driver doesn't have to make a special trip to leave me a sticker. Once I'm off work, I stop by and pick up my package(s)... I think you could rename the thread, though... (wait for it...) (wait for it...) (wait for it...) (just a little longer...) "The Agony and the Ecstasy" ![]() Merry Xmas, DS, and all the DD Staff... | ||

I couldn't afford dual 8800s... ![]() (I ordered 2 of those 8600s) As it is, the monitor I'm looking at is a nice little NEC... but I won't be able to afford that until another check (or two) goes by. Besides, after a bit of time, I can just upgrade the cards. I usually try to do that every two or three years anyway.

| Let me play the Devil's Advocate here: If you worked for UPS, would you want to work on Christmas Day??? Granted, I get to deal with USPS and the Military Postal Service (which is an even bigger joke), but I get to wait until at least a week or two into the new year for my latest order to arrive... Lucky for me, I got the laptop memory, SideWinder mouse, and theheadset I ordered before the Xmas shipping rush, and they all arrived a week ago. Now I'm waiting for my Vista Home Premium 64-bit OEM DVD, to take full advantage of the 4GBs of Geil DDR2... ![]() | ||

| UPS has been great for the company I work for. They're like clockwork, and I know the guy who's been doing deliveries is REALLY looking forward to the end of the season. I went to their website and they'll be responsible for delivering something like 283 package A SECOND during the season. I just wish my parts coulda been here in less than two weeks! I guess I could have ponied up the dough for air, but damn! | ||

Thats how USPS tracking system works, after i open the package, the next day there website updates as "delivered" As for me, i would go with 2 or 3 day select, cause its almost always here in about 2 days that way, and the difference, is like $20. But the real funny part about shipping, is manufacturers and how they charge it.. Nice parts, I like that case too, a lot.

How hard can you push it? The board seems to be fanless, so I'm looking at passive cooling on the north and south bridge... I might try to mod something in there. First step will be stability, then I'll look at the ol' OC and cooling options. I'd like to enjoy a little stability after my current rig...
