| Well gang, it's T-day... Now then, what this day is supposed to be about is givin' thanks for what we have. Sometimes, it's easy enough to forget most of us have it pretty sweet. 3 meals a day (even if it's just cup-o-soup), running water, power, computers, about 30 billion self help books to cope with every problem life has to offer (which never work, but hey... they're there). Also, some of us have been lucky enough to find that special someone, and/or have a life they wouldn't trade in for anything in the world. So, today's post, I figure I'll just give ya'll what I'm thankful for. Hopefully everyone will do the same. Top Ten Things I'm thankful for: 1. I may be single, but at this point in life, not having to take care of anyone else has been pretty useful during those long periods of unemployment (kids, alimony, etc). When you have a family, you find something, even if you hate every day you're there. Bein' single leaves a guy some options. 2. My car, for being a POS from the dark ages... still runs. 3. I do have a job these days. So I have hope of turnin' things around. More to the point, I don't dread every day I'm there, like jobs I've had in the past. 4. No matter how many times I move, I always got friends to talk to, thanks to the internet. 5. I'm a writer for one of the best damn modding sites the 'net has to offer! 6. I usually can manage to scrape together enough cash to get some form of caffeine. 7. No matter what happens, I can usually keep a sense of humor about it. I've been meeting a lot of folks who can't seem to do that. 8. I've got a fairly high IQ... which in itself keeps me curious about everything life has to offer. 9. If someone ever asks me if I've regretted the decisions I've made in life, there would be some minor stuff I'd change just 'cause... but for the most part, I wouldn't change a thing. Even the periods of life that sucked really bad, 'cause it's made me who I am today. 10. I've got a computer with so many gigs of stuff I just like doin' (watchin' cartoons, listening to music, hunting down information, games, etc...), that I don't really get bored anymore. All in all, I know this hasn't been one of my better posts for humor... but even if you don't agree with the reason why people celebrate Thanksgiving (the Native Americans are probably thinking they should have spiked the Pilgrim's punch, loaded 'em back on the boat and pushed 'em off towards the four winds) ...or the way people do it (I gotta admit, I would REALLY hate to be a turkey this time of year), I still think it's a good idea to just take a single day out of a year. One day out of the year to appreciate the fact that either you've got it good, or life doesn't suck worse. Well folks, that's me. Happy T-day guys and gals. | ||

| Great list, man. This Thanksgiving seems different to me. I too have found some things that I am thankful for, and it made the holiday much more enjoyable: 1. My family- They support me in everything I do and are there for me during hard times 2. My friends- I don't have very many, but the ones I have are very close and I can always rely on them no matter the conditions. 3. Computers- It seems kind of lame to say computers, but I wouldnt be typing this if they weren't around, and they make life a whole lot easier and fun. 4. Having a roof over my head- I can't think of what it would be like not having a home. This is where I stay most of the time, and it feels damn good to sit inside and be on the computer and watch TV. 5. Food- I love food, and my fast metabolism just lets me eat more of it. It's comforting, and you can use plates and bowls to eat at various places such as the computer 6. Guitar- I play guitar, and it is something I can always progress at and set goals for 7. Caffeine- without it I'd be flunking school (and losing at LAN parties). 'Nuff said. 8. My youth- a lot of kids my age want to be older, but I enjoy not paying taxes and not buying food 9. My intelligence- schoolwork comes easy to me, and lately iI haven't been taking advantage of that...but now that I'm thankful for it, I have some more initiative. 10. My life- I wouldn't want more than what I have, I have flaws, and I don't have as much money as I'd like, but it's all good, because I have the 9 things above to be thankful for. | ||
