Default Top Five Failed Computer Ideas

Okay... so I just worked a 12 hour day yesterday (yes... Saturday) and I worked the same three days out of the last week. I missed my martial arts course, my homework is behind and I kind of wish I had that bloody degree so I could have a job with better hours in which to finish my degree!

Anyway... today's post will be kinda short (again)... I do apologize!

TOP FIVE FAILED COMPUTER IDEAS:

1. Ben Franklin's Key-on-a-string Power Supply:

Yes, once a lightning storm comes your way, make sure to harness that power with your very own nature-powered power supply!

2. Transformer-computers

Yes, your computer can morph shapes and go fight the evil decepticons while you wait to finish your spreadsheet!

3. Mod Grease

Tired of having to carefully wire in a new mod? Just use a generous amount of "Mod Grease" and shove that sucka in there!

4. Celebrity Personality computers

Yes, the Paula Abdul model breaks down constantly, the Paris Hilton model is prone to virus infestations due to odd "connections", and the K-Fed model just goes nowhere.

5. Super-Ball Computer

Bounce 'em off the walls, and try to catch 'em!

NOTE: I'll TRY to have something better for next week!!!

Actually, I think the world desperately needs a conductive adhesive. It could replace a lot of soldering, especially things like fastening large grounded surfaces together.

They do i use it alot when it's places i don't want to stick a soldering iron into.

The conductive epoxy is damn expensive ($19 a packet at a local shop), and the solder paste apparently still has to be heated.

Basically, I'm envisioning stuff like the model-aeroplane cement (not the runny kind, the sticky kind), with metal in it.

I don't know what kind of application u want it for but i'd imagine it would cause a bit of resistance in the electrical flow.

As far as a diy cement i'd say mix some conductive electrical grease w/ some epoxy or som'n. and experiment w/ different stuff and measure the resistance of different mixtures.

Well, I was mostly trying to describe it by its behaviour-- it would be one-part, probably come in a tube with a small nozzle, have a setting time on the order of minutes, not days or seconds, and be inherently somewhat "sticky" so you could use it to connect mechanically as well as electrically.

Would probably still have to be 2 part epoxy, maybe a 2 cell tube where it mixes in the nozzle...

I found on the web somewhere about a guy who made his own thermal epoxy by mixing something like Arctic Silver with normal 5-minute epoxy. The proportions varied depending on the amount of conductivity desired; i.e. more epoxy, less conductive but more adhesive.

I'd suppose that would work if large amounts weren't needed.
