If you're carrying any sort of Pocket
PC/PDA/Organizer thing-a-mabob, chances are you're going to be using a combination of calendar, contacts, tasks, messages, notes, and other organizational stuff - thats why you got one of these things right? Not just to look cool or anything.
The beautiful thing about these devices is the ability to display information quickly and at a glance right from the Today screen. But when you want to display multiple bits of different information, you'll need seperate plug-ins to display the various data. Why not have one program that can seemsly integrate all of that information and different plugins into one and is capable of displaying it on the Today screen?
Great idea! And that brings us to the final piece of software that keeps my Windows Mobile device ticking...Pocket Breeze.
The beauty of Pocket Breeze is that it allows displays the different sets of information stored on your device (contacts, calendar, tasks, messages, etc) on the today screen in one plug-in. To do this, Pocket Breeze has a "tab" for each category you want to display. And did I mention that these tabs are customizable? Only want to display Calendar and tasks? Go for it. Want to go on an information overload and display every bit of PIM data on your handheld? Not a problem. This is one of Pocket Breeze's most powerful features - the ability to customize the information you want displayed.
One love-hate relationship that is common amongst Windows Mobile device users is displaying important information on the Today screen but keeping it as uncluttered as humanly possible. Pocket Breeze helps with this daunting task by integrating all these features and plug-ins into one little piece of software and organizing them by tabs. And to further help keep the Today screen neat and clean is the ability to add custom tabs and to link them to other programs and plug-ins. This way you can still display the information you need without taking up valuable real estate on the Today screen.
And, just as the last two bits of software offered skins, Pocket Breeze is skinnable as well - mainly focused towards the tab icons and the fonts. So far the Pocket Breeze skins haven't made much of an impact, but out of three software I've mentioned I'm least concerned about skins for this one.
There are many other great programs and Today plug-ins out there, but Phone Alarm, Wisbar Advance 2, and Pocket Breeze have solidified their place on my mobile device. All three offered one common yet important feature, and that was the ability to customize how the program works and what information is displayed and how it is displayed. These software give the everyday user advanced features that were not included on their devices, and also gives power users the customization options and tools they need to make their device a true multi-functional powerhouse.
