Thumbs down Why I hate Â… Halloween

This was going to be a one off seasonal special, but I thought about it and remembered the extent of my misanthropy Â… this will probably develop into a regular series

I don’t really hate Halloween – I just despise the way it manifests itself in the UK.

Now, I could be wrong, but I get the impression from all the cultural exports (most notably ET in this case), that in the US, Halloween is for young kids to dress up & go round & collect candy. Adults night want to dress up too, to escort their little ones, and/or make it more fun when it comes to dishing the goodies out.

All this seems fine – trick-or-treating is a widely followed & enjoyed custom. The problem here is that it isn’t – it’s just not part of our culture, and most people here want to resist its importation.
It would help if you had a better class of people trick-or-treating – here it only tends to be 13 to 15 year old spotty oiks who don’t even bother getting dressed up, & threaten to egg & flour your car and / or house.

Fortunately, there is a way to deal with the little sux0rs – chocolate covered crickets & scorpions, etc. It’s my fond hope that they scoff them immediately, only to later read the packet & spew in disgust.

I like to put on the Ozzy Osbourne eyes. dress in black, with a hood and hide just off the porch...as soon as the little (or big) kids get their candy at the door...Muhahahahha out I come and give them the fright of their life. I'm thinking it's the AXE I've got that does it....

Damn Zen, if it was dark and I saw you jump out of the shadows yelling and looking all wild eyed with an axe in your hand I think I might almost piss myself.

My all time favorite one has to be where Wennzzo dresses up in a Kids costume and waits for a group to come by...then walks up to the door with them...after saying trick or treat and getting her haul, I come up all crazy like and snach her up and run off with her into the dark ,her screamming and kicking...You ought to hear the screams we get with that one!!....Muhahaahaaah!

I'm with ya on that one Ducati, no trick, no treat...It's the LAW

My rules...only give candy to those kids who have costumes and they have to be under 16.

The best part of Halloween, the little kids 6 and under in the cute little costumes saying "trick or treat"...brings a smile to my face!

The second best part of Halloween is seeing those little kids smile!

Sorry, but I had to bring some happiness/goodness to this thread

Jon, a lot of folks in the US have discontinued the practice of going door to door to trick-or-treat with their kids.

They take 'em to parties where candy is either available, or won as prizes.

Now then, the reason door-to-door was ended is that kids were getting razor blades in apples, poison in pixi sticks, and other really crappy things people do when they think they won't get caught.

Oh, and we have the same kids (no costume, with eggs)... I usually make sure to give 'em the crap I got for a previous years holiday season... which can include hard-candy that I've had, literally, for years.

I also usually clean my car and find various things melting slowly in my glove box... So they get melted breath-mints, sticky peppermints and blown fuses I toss in that SOUNDS like candy...

Dark...in San Jose, the kids can go to the malls and Trick or Treat the stores also. It's a safe way for the kids to go Trick or Treating.

If anyone has a chance, the best place to go for an Adult (18 and over) Halloween party is in San Francisco, the Exotic Erotic Ball. Forget the typical Playboy Bunny, that's tame in comparison to the Costumes wore there.

Taz, I think I saw one of those on HBO late-night... awhile back...

Kind of interesting the way people uhh... "integrate" the parts of their body into their costume.

Dark, HBO has featured it twice that I know of in there Real Sex Series and another one. The costumes are very unique and can be very revealing to say the least.

I've only been once, I won a radio contest, it was a real expirence to say the least!
