Well gang... I've been deeply immersed in anime for months... time to spread a little reviewing goodness about.


ELFEN LIED:

Pronounced "El-fen leed"

This series is friggin' cool. I'm about halfway through and although it's dark as hell, I've enjoyed it a lot.

Story: This girl who's the victim of cruel experiments rips her way out of her confinement (and through several people) with her psychic abilties. She washes up on shore with a new personality. This split personality is kind of cool. She's really cute as "Nyu" and a completely merciless psychotic as Lucy. This series is NOT for the little ones, and involves seens of nudity, graphic (and I do mean graphic) violence.

The animation is also beautiful in it's own way.


EXCEL SAGA:

I bought the entire series without having ever watched it... and I'm glad I did. I laughed my ass off and I watched the entire series in a couple of nights at the cost of much sleep. This anime pokes fun at just about every other type of movie or animation out there. This includes "B" horror flicks, action movies, dramas and just about everything else. The main character can be slightly annoying (and hard to understand at times) but it's a really awesome series. I'd highly recommend it!

All the way to the end, it's worth watching! Hell, the bonus wrap-up party episode that shows what the animators wanted to do, I was laughing so hard I woke up my neighbor!


Moon Phase:

I'm on disc five of six. It's not a bad series, but can be diabetes-inducing cutsey at times. Also... it smacks slightly... uhhh... adult... for a series that could probably be watched by kids (not a lot of violence... some nudity, but not really flagrantly so). I love the animation, the characters are memorable, and some of the story is pretty cool. Still, some episodes seem to have been made as pure filler, and it can be sickenly cute at times. Grandpa kicks much ass.

Still, worth watching so far. I'm hoping the ending is okay...

Oh, the story is of a pre-teen vampire who escapes from her father's castle and is being pursued by dark forces to get her back. Her "slave" is a guy who can photograph spiritual images, but is so psychically dead, he's immune to a lot of attacks, and the control of his vampiric "master".

Anyway... ironically, I haven't really learned anything post-worthy from my IT classes at the moment. A few more weeks may tell the tale, and I've been meaning to do something a bit more technical lately... I've just been too busy to get to it.

I'll get caught up here eventually!

I tried the manga of Excel Saga and found there was only so many times they could make the "our emergency food dog" joke you have in your sig before I wanted them to just eat the damn dog and be done with.

Glad you liked excel. I watched that a few years back and laughed my ass off.. Maybe I take a look at it again...

Love Excel Saga, own all but the 4th DVD [Which, I might add, is never in stock anywhere. Everywhere it's the same bit. 1,2,3,5. Like someone just hates me or something] Haven't seen Elfen Lied, but I'll check it out. My favorites have always been Outlaw Star and Ghost in the Shell [both movies and all three series].

DS - you completely stole my DD Post idea for tomorrow! Maybe I'll still do it...who knows...

I've been interested in seeing the other two though for a few months, just haven't had a chance to get around to it. But I heard that Elfen is really dark that people have to prepare themselves if they're used to the fan service type of anime.

elfin lied...O_O my friend recommended me to watch that quite some time ago. i wasnt really prepared for the 1st episode.
