Talking Kids Play: Kids Ages 9-12 play games from 70's-80's...results?

Over at Electronic Gaming Monthly the crew did a study on how 9 gamers of today's era, ranging from the ages of 9 to 12, perceived a variety of games that were released between the late '70s to the mid '80's.

Some of the games the young gamers were exposed to were pong, Donky Kong, Tetris, and Super Mario brothers.

"...But was the age of Pong, Atari, Mattel handheld football, and Donkey Kong really all that great, or are we just blinded by fuzzy, warm nostalgia?

That's the question we asked—and answered—back in the November issue of EGM, in which we rounded up nine children of the PlayStation generation—ages 9 to 12—and forced them to play a variety of titles from the late'70s to the mid-'80s. Now read what the little scamps had to say, plus check their comments on a bonus game—Super Mario Bros.—that got cut from the EGM article. If you grew up with these classics, prepare to feel very old.

Those spoiled punks don't know how good they have it.

Gotta admit they are so right, but we had to start somewhere.

Imagine what the games will be like when they have kids...

It seems like if the paddle doesn't have more than 3 buttons these lil gamers don't know how to use them lol!

thankfully i never played E.T. I didn't have to put up with that piece of s*** falling into pits and being taken over by other boys. And Tetris is by far the best game ever made, and is still the most addictive.

One of the kids actually did say something smart.
When asked if they would rather play Space Invaders or play outside, the kid said outside.
Yeah, I know I'm a hypocrite cuz I played the hell out of SI but I think console video games are (almost) as bad as TV for making our kids into another generation of couch potatoes.

Wow, the one thing more startling then their utter disregard to classic gaming is their cynicism and sarcasm. No wonder our country is like it it...
