For the first time in way too long, I have a job interview !

ItÂ’s this Thursday (the 16th) at TWI (The Welding Institute), and is for an IT Support Technician position, so itÂ’ll be a plentiful source of material if I get it!

As I see it, IÂ’ve got almost everything going for me, the principle requirements for the job seem to be:
1 - Building PCs & installing software – check!
2 - Taking & Logging support calls – any fool can answer the phone, and I know I can write (I’ll have to might have abandon my usual verbosity though) – so check!
3 – staying late one Friday in four to take backups – I have no life, so another check !
4 – support on MS applications – check!
5 – Network troubleshooting – I have theoretical knowledge of this from university, + I’m trying to be positive here, so it’s another - so check (even if it’s not so firm as the others).

I also have links to the place: IÂ’ve worked there before (albeit in the kitchens & in the filing department, both a very long time ago), my dad works there, my sistersÂ’ godfather works there, several friends work there, and IÂ’ve also bought cars from people that work there on three occasions.

Well, it all looks good so far … I’m off to re-read the “How to get a Job” article I did for Darksamurai earlier in the year … you peeps will be the first to know how I get on … well, after me anyway.

#1 should be the best bit - I can even mod the PCÂ’s at the same at the same time !

I can imagine the scenario:
Boss: “Jon, I need to talk about the machine you built for our Finance Director”
Me: “Yeah! That was one 1337 machine! It kicked ass!”
Boss: “Umm, yes, but did he _really_ ask for three 120mm turbine blowholes, cc lighting, Peltier cooling, and an airbrushed case depicting the Attack on Pearl Harbour?”
Me “Umm ….”
Boss: “And does he _really_ need Quake Arena to do the month end reports?”
Me (frantically surreptitiously dialing my desk phone # on my mobile): “… ’Scuse me … phone call!”
