| The Cubicle Monkey Is Back !!! Greetings Cubicle Monkeys!!!
Well, not to jump to conclusions but it would seem that the “no work” dry spell is finally over. I had applied for a seasonal job with H&R Block doing tech support for their tax minions which would run from mid October through the end of April 2009. They finally called me about a week ago to let me know that I was hired for the job.
In the meantime while I was waiting to hear back from them I set up an interview with another company I was referred to by a friend from my last job. Well, they called me in for one job, interviewed me for two different (yet related) jobs, and I took it. As always I’m not going to name names as far as the company goes, and I’m sure everyone knows why.
So as of Monday I will be starting my new job as an assistant project manager for a communications/infrastructure company. That basically means I will be pulling permits, doing job walk-throughs and bids, and making sure the installers have what they need and are getting the job done correctly and on time. Not a huge change from my last job, even though I was the lead installer the project manager was never on site which basically left me to be the project manager in addition to being the lead installer.
So, not a huge change for me other than the surroundings and the employees.
Unfortunately the comic is still going to be on hold for a few months. I have to use every bit of my time to work, save money, and get back out on my own in a financially viable way before I can get back to work on the comic in full swing.
Now, I’m not one to count my chickens before they hatch, so to speak. Being that I was offered two different jobs and took the higher job on the ladder I made sure to let them know that I’m more than capable of doing either job and I gave them the choice of where to put me. They in turn asked me to make the choice and told me not to worry if what I pick doesn’t happen to work out because they’re willing to let me move to the other position as a back drop.
I can only hope that this company is serious about taking care of it’s employees, unlike my last job that was screwing over it’s employees for a measly gain in their own pockets.
More updates to follow, stay tooned!!! |
