Thumbs up The Cubicle Monkey Is Back !!!

Greetings Cubicle Monkeys!!!

Well, not to jump to conclusions but it would seem that the “no work” dry spell is finally over. I had applied for a seasonal job with H&R Block doing tech support for their tax minions which would run from mid October through the end of April 2009. They finally called me about a week ago to let me know that I was hired for the job.

In the meantime while I was waiting to hear back from them I set up an interview with another company I was referred to by a friend from my last job. Well, they called me in for one job, interviewed me for two different (yet related) jobs, and I took it. As always I’m not going to name names as far as the company goes, and I’m sure everyone knows why.

So as of Monday I will be starting my new job as an assistant project manager for a communications/infrastructure company. That basically means I will be pulling permits, doing job walk-throughs and bids, and making sure the installers have what they need and are getting the job done correctly and on time. Not a huge change from my last job, even though I was the lead installer the project manager was never on site which basically left me to be the project manager in addition to being the lead installer.

So, not a huge change for me other than the surroundings and the employees.
Unfortunately the comic is still going to be on hold for a few months. I have to use every bit of my time to work, save money, and get back out on my own in a financially viable way before I can get back to work on the comic in full swing.

Now, I’m not one to count my chickens before they hatch, so to speak. Being that I was offered two different jobs and took the higher job on the ladder I made sure to let them know that I’m more than capable of doing either job and I gave them the choice of where to put me. They in turn asked me to make the choice and told me not to worry if what I pick doesn’t happen to work out because they’re willing to let me move to the other position as a back drop.

I can only hope that this company is serious about taking care of it’s employees, unlike my last job that was screwing over it’s employees for a measly gain in their own pockets.

More updates to follow, stay tooned!!!

The only thing holding me back now is waiting to get all the info back from the background check and drug screen.

I still hadn't been given word on any of it by this morning so I went in to the office anyway, not only to make an appearance but also to gauge how long it takes me to get to the office. My boss is apparently a big stickler about being in the office before or exactly at 7:30am. Not really a big deal as I generally like getting to work early and taking a few moments to get oriented.

I know the drug screen will come back soon, but I worry that the background check could take up to 2 weeks, meaning I can't start working until they get it back and approve it.

/hurry up and wait
