This to me is a suprising turn for MS to take, especially with how hard they have worked to keep IE in the browser game. However, given the alternatives for web browsers out there I guess we should be thankful that MS didn't team up with Safari.


It's hard to tell if this is all true, as I said it seems a bit fishy to me, but I look forward to hearing the end of it. Also, could this be the beginning of a MS / Mozilla buy-out?

I thought the same thing, but I also took into account that Gates is going to be retiring soon, which could usher in a whole new generation for MS.

like i said, i'll believe it when i see it. it seems far fetched, but on the other hand i could see MS trying to buy out Mozilla to replace IE, especially since the Yahoo deal went south. it's no secret that FireFox is gaining HUGE popularity, even with the average users. just look at the download numbers for FF3. IE is losing it's market share quicker and quicker as time goes by.

only time will tell. hey, maybe I'll try to contact Ballmer and follow up on the story to see if it's true. i'm sure they'll just let me speak directly to him, just as soon as hell freezes over and thaws back out again.

I SO hope this is true! IE is one of the worst browsers to have to design sites for. I often will design a site that looks good in all browsers except IE5.5 and IE6 and then I have to find ways to tweak it to work in those browsers, too. I would much rather just worry about Opera and FireFox.
