| Well after many weeks of hanging around with the good (and not so good...fu3l ) folks of Pimprig has conviced me to go ahead, take the plunge and mod a box myself. I'll be posting pics here as it progresses. If I can do a job half as good as some of the folks here, I'll be pleased.Have some patience with me and I'll not disappoint. ![]() Last edited by FoeHammer; 27-May-03 at 01:32 PM.. | ||

| If you're cutting a steel case, then ya that's about normal. those wheels don't last long against steel of that thickness. If you're doing aluminum... then I'd be worried. Jigsaws can be messy if you're not careful. Personaly I feel I have more control with a dremmel, IMHO. You could make the big cuts with a jigsaw and trim it up with dremmel and/or files. I also tried my tools out on a spare side panel first to see what the pros and cons were too. Last edited by DeadTom; 23-May-03 at 07:27 PM.. | ||

| Direct Cool Hoe | There was a thread here, one of the first ones I even posted on and there are some dremel discs that are of the "diamond" veriety. If I'm not mistaken, somebody said they used only one on the whole case and still had some disc left, prolly late2002 congrats on the modding choice! | |

| Thanks guys. I hope that everything will turn out okay. The more I think about the work I have to do, the more my respect for those who did it themselves increases. I got my concept taken care of, now just to implement it. Doing the cutting first, then the real tough one....painting . I am dreading that bit. I was never much of a painter.Expect a lot of questions when that comes around. Insomniac's painting guide is going to be my bible. ![]() | ||

| What is DC and the IRC for that matter? What do I need for either of them? Foe... I've been talking to mnpctech a lot as far is plastics are concerned. He is a master with plastics IMHO. I'm working on something right now and if it comes out like I want it to, I would have to say I owe a lot to mn. Check out his web site, mnpctech.com It has a few "how to's" that are very helpfull with both metal and plastic. Good luck man and keep us updated ![]() | ||

| Just wanted to say thanks to the Big A for the advice on cutting. I just finished the first of seven major cuts, everything went smooth and clean. I only used one disc to finish the cut after the first three I burned up. Now I just need to resize the pics so I can show you my progress. (anyone know a decent FREE photo editing software ) | ||
