| Hi Everyone! Im new to pimprig and this is my first case mod project. For starters, I bought a chieftec dragon case for this project. Considering that i was of course planning on painting it. I decided to save a few bucks and go with this hideous yellow color. Instead of posting several messages on the progress i have done so far. Im just going to post my pics and show you what i done so far. Tell me what you guys think so far? Of course im always looking for idea's...... ![]() | ||

| Update: I wanted to have my side panel completed yesterday with the new window mod i picked up. Anyways, since im trying to pull of the mirror image look on my case. I cussed and sweared when i broke through the clearcoat and into the basecoat. So im going to clean it up and respray the clearcoat and of course try again. This mirror image effect is sure not for the impatient. Way to much sanding and polishing. Im hoping to get it resprayed tomorrow along with a second coat of the basecoat on my top window panel. That's if the humidity is in my favor tomorrow. I'll try and get some updated pics asap. TC everyone! rockin'male ![]() | ||

| First off, welcome to PimpRig! I'm glad you're painting that Dragon, especially to get away from that yellow color. Have you thought about painting the frame? If you're going to do a window, and apparently going for sort of a dark theme, with the Executioner sticker or whatever, you should definitely paint your frame black as well. I've been really wanting to paint my case, which is a generic Chieftec server tower (pre-mod; flame away!) with the window already in it. I mean, when I bought it, I knew nothing about modding, but now that I do I'm sort of itching to get into it. Excellent work on the painting so far, looks good...take your time with that mirror finish; it'll be worth it I'm sure! Cheers! | ||

| Im not really sure if a black frame will really help with the window mod i chose. These are some killer windows! It's like a two way mirror. You cant see inside unless there's a light source inside the case then its transparent. If you wanna check it out.... Here's a link.... http://www.cuttingedgecasemods.com/windows/windows.htm Also what do you guy's think about a placing a skull that would protrude from the top front of the case. Which, I was thinking of using a sandable/paintable epoxy to attach. Then add some red leds for the eye's. All idea's are welcome! | ||

| For the skull, I might suggest using a modeling clay called Sculpy, as seen in this awesome thread: http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread.php?t=18141 | ||

| Skulls-Is-Me! Ok not really, but I do get ahold of some cool skull stuff. And WELCOME TO PR! I second the chrome skull idea. AutoZone carries a lot of sizes from gear shift knobs to doorlock buttons. I used a Bully receiver/hitch cover for my hardcase mod. | ||

I've seen this done before and it always turns out awsome. This is a pretty good example, but the pictures suck. Theres one amazing case that did it, i think on bit tech, ill look for it... | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Hi everyone! Here's an update of my progress. My side panel mirror image effect is still in the making. I had to order a new panel since try to get the mirror image effect with the window cutout was to difficult. Oh well you live and learn. I finally got my skull that looks so kewl! I ordered this before all the replies and I thank everyone that replied with their input. Let's see if i can make this work. Otherwise i'll try something else. Speaking of the skull, I did some cutting to make it flatter to fit the case better. Since this was originally a candle. I still need to do more cutting to level the backside more. Is there anyone out there that could tell me whats the best type of glue, etc i would need to fill in the gaps and give it a good adhesion to the plastic case. I certainly wouldnt want this falling off anytime soon. Just to give everyone a idea on what im trying to accomplish. I wanted to use this skull as a front display as well as a fan inlet for my two 120's im going to add. Of course im going to add the red led eyes. and a mesh grill behind to hide what's behind the open mouth. Here's a couple of pics to see what thoughts or ideas come to mind. | ||

| the 2 cheapest, yet most used fastening devices I have ever bought for modding is a rivet gun and a hot glue gun. Hot glue is great for tacking wire out of the way and whatnot, but it would probably melt the candle. So, I bring to the table . . . . SHOE GOO!!!!! It can be found in the hardware department of any Target store for less than 2 bucks, strong enough to hold my steel toes together for work, but can be easily cut and peeled off so you can reuse your modding parts for other projects!! | ||

| Thanks alot everyone for their comments. Today, i started the dreaded hacking and slashing my front panel away. It seems to fit in there pretty good. Minus a little extra hacking and slashing in a few places. Now i just need to glue it in place and bondo the s*cker! Which bondo is good to use when trying to fill in a moderate gap? Also, is it worth going for the fiberglass bondo for added strength? Here's an updated pic of what's going on so far.... | ||

| Well i finally got some work done on the front panel. It was my first bondo job. So pardon the messy bondo work. It's starting to take form after some sanding. I'll still need to patch it in certain places, but all in all its starting to take some form. That's all i got for now.... So what do you think so far?????? | ||

| Thanks for all the positive responses. Red is of course the color of choice.......Gotta have some blood color in it. To add more details as to what im going to do on the front. Im planning on hacking and slashing the front panel to accomidate two 120's. In order to stealth behind the eyes, nose, and mouth. I was thinking of using some modders mesh and paint it black. What's everyones opinion on adding some raised vein like lines on the sides? To give it more of the impression that its breaking through the case. Well, that's all i got for now till my next update. Gotta go hit the gym since they close early today. I certainly dont want to go, but i'll feel guilty if i dont go..... Take care everyone! | ||
