| Yes, I'm a Star Wars geek. Here we go again. Another project is lined up. I will be making a life size R2D2 from scratch. I'm estimating that it'll be about 4 feet tall and about 2 feet wide. The material is still sketchy, but I'm either using plastic or thin aluminum. I know that it will be heavy so I will use casters under the feet. Currently I want to put in an Athlon 64 system, but do not know if I can afford it. I've entered several contests as of late with my mods and if I win any I'll know the projects' specs. Otherwise Air Force One will get gutted for R2D2. I was saving money for a Vapochill case to replace AF1, but I think that my ideas on this one will be worth it. Also, my Exos will not tag along. I have a complete Watercooling setup from Danger Den ready for the project. It includes a 120mm radiator and the DD RBX. ![]() Anything that you can think of to try to encorporate into this mod will be handy. Thanks. | TheGreatSatan, I hope you take this the right way. I have seen you come up with some of the most innovative, fun, and unique mod projects. Even more fun is the fact that you incorporate moving parts, like the Turbine PC, UFO and your craft-stick plane, and others. However, I hope you will take your time and work on your polish, because a lot of your projects seem to be rushed and they seem to lack "finish", as maybe you get a new idea before you fully complete the previous idea. My favorite project of yours was the Matrix Sentinel case. With your ingenuity, I would be voting 9's and 10's on your mods, if you took the time and had the patience to properly complete your projects before rushing off to the next one. I love the R2-D2 idea, and I'm sure you can do lots of fun things with moving parts and lights, and even sounds. But I hope to see you follow this project through, detail by detail, to the very end. Such a good idea deserves all of your professionalism and skills. Last edited by Coelacanth; 06-June-05 at 03:42 AM.. | ||

| First thing that comes to my mind is a slot-loading CD/DVD drive, right up under one of the "eyes"... A webcam in place of the aerial (one of the "pie" sections on top) Your intake/exhaust fans mounted behind the front louvers on the "torso"... I'm sure you already thought about some of these, but if not, enjoy and good luck! | ||

| I know that R2 doesn't have one in the movies, but do you think it would look OK to put a LCD on the front of it? Not like a scree, because I just don't have the money, but what about a small one for a 5.25 slot, to display temps and stuff? Also, does anyone know where I can get some of that white striping they use to paint flames on motorcycles? I'd like to use it for the many squares and rectangles on the torso. | ||

I think that would be a great idea, as long as it was concealed by a little plastic flap or door. When you want to see the LCD, you pop open the flap; when the computer is off, you close the flap and nobody knows there's an LCD screen there.
You can buy dozens of varieties of pinstriping tape (in many colors and thicknesses) at any automotive store, such as Canadian Tire (that's where I go) but I assume Pepboys and other places would have this stuff. Just go to any place that sells automotive touch-up paints, customizing supplies, and such, and you will find pinstriping tape. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| On another note, I've been thinking of my CPU's cooling. I had decided to use my Danger Den system for that, but I'm afraid I'll get the same crappy results as my Koolance. So I think I may put a phase change cooling system at the bottom of the case. I'll obviously have the room. | ||
