| Project Pimp Status The plan: I want to do a PimpRig theme. A blue high gloss paint job, with a PR logo on one side. Air brushing is way to expensive, vinyls as well, so I plan on using printed decal paper. I'm considering a window on the left side, unique shape and a top window with a PR logo etching. The parts: So far I have a case and a plan. I won the ACRyan contest so some parts are coming. I should be able to grab a piece of blue acrylic from my school for the side and top windows. I will be starting after I get school exams are over. That way I'll have some money (hopefully) and time. ![]() | ||

| Update #1 (5/27/05) I didn't think I was quite ready to start studying for exams, so... I rounded up my gear today, my old chem goggles, and a pair of work gloves along with my rotary tool. I started with my top window, which I got done with just fine. Needs to be cleaned up, but it's okay. The side window, which I traced out on the back of side panel, didn't get done. I ran out of cut off discs. I bought 25 reinforced ones a few minutes ago online, so that should be more than enough. Mike from AC Ryan and I are almost done choosing the colors of the items in my mod kit. I should pick up work again after Thursday when my exams are over. There is a glimpse of my toes in my sandals in the last picture. ![]() | ||

| Looking at that whole you cut in the top gave me an idea. It would be sweet (though not sure if its possible) to have a verticle mounted cd rom. You hit the eject button, or better yet, stealth the drive and have it come up. How sweet would that be. It would be even more amazing if you put a tiny screen on the face of it. Good job so far. | ||

| Update #2 (6/3/05) I worked on my side panel, and got my window and fan hole cut last night. The cuts still need to be cleaned up. There will be a 120mm intake on the front, 92mm on the side, and two 80mm exausts, due to size constraints. This case is pretty small and light, so fan real estate is limited. The bumps on the side panel needed to be removed, but Vert's belt sander is out of comission, so we took turns sanding it by hand. The plexi I grabbed from school is actually clear, but had blue protective film. I'll have to wait on the Acryl from AC Ryan before mounting the window.Vert cut a window into his pop can, and I had some window molding I was playing around that I made from a coax cable (link). Modded pop can anyone? I've still got some work to do before painting, but it'll be a week or two before I get my parts from AC Ryan. | ||

| Congrats on your ACRyan win! For some reason Crazy_J backed out as one of the winners, and my old Charger case was selected as a runner-up! I've never won anything of note, before...but I already have some ideas brewing for some of the gear at www.acryan.com, and do a proper restoration of the Charger case. Can't wait to see how you make ACRyan proud and show off their gear. Good luck with your project! | ||

| I'm totally lost with the can thing. I was like: hey cool a mod progressing....(scroll down) cool pictures, oo that cut looks cool can't wait to see the window....(scroll through a few pages) hey a can...wait, (wtf) he put that coaxial cable sleeving on a can he'll never use? Honestly the mod is going well, can't wait to see you paint this sucker and throw the plexi' in there. | ||

| Update #3 (6/7/05) Well, earlier today I ordered some stuff from DragonModz. Got myself two 3mm UV/Purple LED's and four small chrome spikes from DragonModz.net. The LED's will replace my front power and hard drive indicators and the spikes are for the case feet. I choose the smaller ones, as they won't raise the case as much as the larger ones, though I hope they can handle the case's weight. I'm still trying to allocate a belt sander for the bumps on the side panels, but I may just bite the bullet and buy one. I got out today for about two hours and cleaned up my window and side intake fan cuts with my rotary tool. I tried to drill the fan mounting holes with the drill bit on the rotary tool, but that definately didn't work out. I also cut out part of the front to mount the front 120mm intake. The fan has to go higher than the front USB/1394/Audio ports, so the top two fan mounting holes don't have anywhere to go. I'll probably fix this with some zip ties. In the process of making room for the front 120mm fan, my flex shaft broke, and I killed any chance of repairing it when I tried to fix it. Anyone with a flexshaft for sale, please PM me. | ||
