phew man its been a long time since i set foot on these boards, some of you may remember me, i have a feeling most of you wont tho. Any way onto the project.

the case I will be using is a Koolance PC3-720SL and being as its not exacly cheap or easy to come by here in the UK I will be aiming to get this PERFECT first time round

while im still waiting on the bastard chassis to arrive from teh US, (should be end of next week) i might as well post the design sheet for what i have planned thus far. note these are PHOTOSHOP mock ups. i may change the design on the fly but aint that half the fun of modding

the central aluminium part of the front will be painted a dark pearl grey. just gotta read up on working with painting Alu :x

The plan looks nice and clean, but I would spice up the inside with some paint of some sort. Don't make it to flashy and break the theme or take away from the window image, but make it look better then stark metal.

only thing i was thinking of doing to the innards was to polish the aluminium frame, i will have a think while im waiting for it to arrive,

being as the etch is going to be a laser etch, i might stick a small light under the perpex to help eluminate it better

wow, got more support then i thought

only problem i can foresee are me painting the front aluminium bezel, anyone have any tips for working with aluminium?

Ahhh! Freakin awesome dude! Xenosaga rocks! Got into about 5 hours of part 2 and then my damn friend basically started drinking constantly so I can't ever get over to his house and play it

I gotta buy it cause I did get the save file onto my memory card......she looks nice in the swimsuit you get if you have the save file from the first one haha....

lol, i noticed a few xenosaga fans on here. we dont have xenosaga over here in the uk but since stumbling upon the rather dire tv series by accident i got curious about it and got hooked just by reading about it all, currently haxing a ps2 atm so i can import them.

Get a freeloader Uk disk it will let you play any game from any region, I have the whole animated serise and the games.
Ok now down to the beef of this information, I like the case but I would take that mod much further then paint and stickers and such, It would be very cool if you made it look like the restrianing unit she had to live in in the first series, but that would be be insane. I do like the overall theme and the only thing I would change on it would be the Koolance words, make it say something else or make it say Kos-Mos glowing blue, now that would be sweet.

gonna stuff a DMS4 in the ps2, that should sort it as i cba to keep disc swapping,

as soon as the bloody case arrives im pulling it to bits to see what i can do with it, i *would* like to get rid of the KOOLANCE on the front but that depends on how the top unit has been built.

if this wasnt costing me 290 quid (thats $550 USD, we british really get the arse end of the stick ) then id rip it to hell, make it stand on 2 legs and give it blue hair, but give me chance tho.

Man, you guys do get screwed on prices. As far as painting aluminum, I think if you treat it like anything else, (sand, primer, paint) it should be fine

very nice, so are you going to hide your drives? i'd hate too see only some of the drive bays wih decals.

wasnt planning on stealthing them really but now youve said that, i think i will, actually that will work REALLY well with some of the lighting ive got planned

well after weeks of waiting it *finally* arrived. i also started work on the paint scheme today but im a few colours down going to zip off to maplins (uk tandys) and pick up some parts for the power distribution board and possibly start construction on that tomorow.

have you thought about making an aluminum beauty plate? that laser etch looks so nice, in your photo shoped pic, with the aluminum in the background . i'd hate to see you lose that effect with a bunch of electronics behind it.

you mean a plate of aluminium behind it? i dont follow? in any case the etch looks wrong in the picture as its jsut a quick inverted greyscale of the original, the final thing wont be ruined by the innards i dont think, i will have to see when it arrives.
