Yes!, we're actually making an airlock-type door latch from scratch from aircraft aluminum. I should have some photos posted in another week or so. Did I mention I moved the deadline for the case's completion to December 15th? Thats when Carlos is flying up from Miami to install the Phenom FX system. It's gonna put a fire under things to move, but I work better under deadlines. btw: I'm editing the next video segment. You'll see Craig's cnc mill in action and us test fitting the new side panel. Hopefully I'll have it posted within next 24 hours if I don't have any interuptions. I've got nearly 60 clips I need to sieve through. You almost have to enter a zen-like state of mind to recall which segment was what and "where is it?" ![]() Stills from the next video segment Last edited by mnpctech; 18-November-07 at 07:18 AM..

| Thanks for the comments guys! Just another update. Since the problems I was having earlier w/ AMD seem to be resolved, I thought I'd see how far I can push the boundaries with them today. I just asked if I could get "Spy Photos" of the test hardware for the Phenom FX platform and new quad-core CrossfireX from AMD/ATI's laboratory for my next video segment. I told them "You would be taking the photos, so you control what gets revealed" You never know unless you ask ... Right?! Last edited by mnpctech; 19-November-07 at 06:04 AM.. | ||

| Me too, they said no problem, but I'm still waiting to hear back... I did hear from Carlos today, he just returned a Technical Journalist preview hosted by AMD in Lake Tahoe. He posted this article. This will be the hardware we're installing in Project Phenom. | I did some surfing for a "decent" photo of the ATI CrossfireX Quad-Core. This is what I was most interested in seeing up close. AMD informed Carlos that the Catalyst 7.12 with quad-Crossfire support will be released in beta on 12/5/2007. He did get to see the quad-Crossfire in action while at the press junket in Lake Tahoe. Carlos told me "Bloody amazing. And they are way more flexible than NvidiaÂ’s solution. Raja Koduri, the CTO of ATI, demoed GPU based HD encoding to HD at 3x speeds (1min of HD video encoded in 20 sec)! And they do physics processing as well." | ||

| Isn't it tho?! ![]() Part 2 Video Segment is posted! Remember the "Biker Dude" Craig from the first segment? I take you to his shop CNC Metal Craft and show you some of his other work in the beginning. He milled all of the parts on the chopper, including the rims on the same cnc mill. Let me know what you think! | ||

| I'd call that project "Quad-Mania" Thrasher ![]()
The cnc mill work is manually programmed via the mill's control keypad. In the video, I was drawing up the sketch in Photoshop, I'll print that out for Craig. No idea what specific cad program Dave used for the AMD fan grill.

| about CNC work question ** from my limited knowledge** The design can be done in variuos porgrams like CAD, Rhino, Solidworks then its givin to the CNC guy **unless he does both ends** to convert it to a program that the machine can read like MasterCam. ** Unless this is an older CNC rig that isnt able to load programs this way ** I havent used MasterCam enough to know , but 90% sure you can do it all from this program also ON TOPIC - Bill, If im understanding right from your posts and the vid, your gonna make that side panel hydralic or phnumatic openable ? IF so SHWEET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the CNC vid , that looks like the Bridgeports mills I worked with, them rigs are a blast to use!! | ||

Yep, the SwordM case already has a gas hydraulic shock, we're making a circular release latch that will be located in the center of the 2, side panels.. turn it, she squeezes the two panels tight, turn to release and she'll open like a hatchback.
Hell yeah! Craig says it's just as fun as the first day he bought it 10 years ago. Last edited by mnpctech; 21-November-07 at 07:57 PM..

Craig only uses this machine for occasional protoyping, but if it was doing production runs, he would need to lubricate the bit Did you notice the circa 70s office chair castors on the swordm? They must go! Let me know if you see anything cool from these castors resellers links Dave sent me (scratching head) Service Caster Corporation - Casters and Wheels Cool acrylic castors Cool Casters: America's Online Source for Cool Casters
