Default HTRN's Project Facelift

Well, I figured it was time to do some modding , and I also wanted to give this case a new look. This is the case I won HERE AT PCAPEX!!! and well , it just looked like it needed some bling. here's some pics of the start of the project.

EDIT : To all you guys ( GN72 , MNPC_Tech , Lokie etcetc ) who polish by hand OMFG!! I tryed for about an hour and my arthritis hurt so bad I stopped for three days before goin an gettin the wheels in the pic. You got ALL my respect for doin it by hand!!

That quote needs to be taken entirely out of context and put in the quotes thread.

In all seriousness I'll be watching this thread. I have a feeling it will be cool.

Definitely going to be tracking this thread.

By the way, I love seeing the Bud on the same table with the power tools. I may not like the brand, but it's always good to see another guy who keeps his alchohol handy during projects.

Nope i used Mibro polishing wheel sticks ( pic below )

Thanks for all the comments here's a shot of the main color I picked out . Kinda stold the color idea after seeing how awsome the PR Tribute case looked, and its for my daughter so.......
Thats the first five coats and a 600grit wet sand , gotta get some rubbing compound to finish it off

Well last night I figured out the design for the side panel that will be away from a wall. I'm gonna cut a window , following the paint design and then frost the plexi so it will give off a purplr light but not be see-through. Anyhow heres the lay out for cutting , all the "G" marks are staying metal. Now i gotta get more dremel cuttin' wheelies.

Mace, bear with me, but are you going to leave enough metal around the edges to allow you to mount the panel back onto the side of the case? Just looking at the picture, it doesn't seem like it (I'll go get my eyes checked, though)

As far as cutting wheels, are you still using the tried and true #426 Dremel disks, or did you switch up to the EZ-Locks (it's been awhile, I might have the numbers/names bass-ackwards)?

EDIT: Never mind, I got it now... Dee Dee Dee on mee mee mee... LOL

Oh , i see what you mean , lemme Xplane , see the striaght lines? the wiggley things inside the lines stay , but i just wanted to transfer the green down to where the window is so when painted they line up as it were, inside the stright lines is the only metal to get gone.

EZ-LOCK???????????? never heard of them , but then I just ran out of disks ( had around 10000 of them) so i havent bought any in a couple years.

I'll definatly check them out

OH NOW YOU GET IT , after i type all that gibberish out

So...which one is getting the facelift?

Nice work man. I was pleasantly surprised to see you have a worklog up. I have one too but it's a ways from making it purty.

Man, this is looking really sweet, love the color combination and the window design.

I swear by EZ-Lock disks. They break a lot less and last a lot longer (imo) and are a helluva lot easier to change out.

Keep up the good work

Sorry 'bout the paintwork , dude. I'm happy you have it sorted. I have to agree with MRMOBEUS...very cool cammo effect you got going on there .

In my experience, it was not the cold that made the paint wrinkle, it was applying too much paint with not enough drying time allowed for between layers. That realy is a pain in the backside.

Keep up the good work, Mace!

Cheers,
Peter.
