| Here we are again with another project. While this one is in progress I finally have the time to give it a proper introduction. Many of my friends have liked what they have seen and wanted to follow with a work log. Please forgive me but my life has been a time consuming project itself. So far “Project Jaded†is about 2 months into and with progress it will get done. Thank you and I hope you enjoy. Project Jaded The base of this case is the well known case Antec 900. The case has excellent angles and good airflow. The case will stay air cooled with low dbl fans but a lot of them. The color scheme is black and green with subtle color accents..not sure about that yet. A 17†LCD with a custom smoked acrylic housing will be custom mounted on the mobo side for extra viewing. I sat down and did a sketch of the general design. ![]() I didn't take any pics when I took the case apart, but you all know how that is done. Preping and layout were my first steps. The front bezel is going to be tough to cut and get a dual sided dragonmeter in. I plan on frosted acrylic inserts up both pilars and Twizted to wire up a DM with 20 green LEDs. ![]() While I was preping the pilars, Twizted got bizy on the 200mm fan...22 green leds to light up the fan.....can we say overkill? Nahhhhh! Stay tuned more coming... | ||

| MM: We just wanted the fan to have the green glow to it after the top was finished, more on that one later. Thanks BM, we will test out some colors. Like I said just not sure yet. Yeah BA....I have the dremel shakes after the PSU for the tribute case. Twizted etched a circuit to have a rotating light under the case. Of course with green LEDs in a chaser circuit. I will have to do a video of that one to really enjoy it. For those that really get into this kinda thing, here is Twizted creating the chaser light for under the case. ![]() I really like watching the layout process of a circuit, it's an art form all its own. Cleaning the board ![]() Dang thats alot of LEDs! ![]() Like I said...I need to upload a video to really enjoy the light show. For now a still image will give you an idea. ![]() Till next time fellow modders!!!! | ||

| ROFL!!!! I wear "gloves" because finger prints will tarnish a copper clad board in no time flat... I generally keep them on through most of the process for things like this so I will no mark it up with prints... I like to coat them with clear enamel to preserve the copper after I am done although this one was not painted... I will probably be doing another board for this project as a part of the bottom rotating light fixture... That will likely be painted and I am sure Phil will be taking pics lol.. | ||

| Twizted just told me about this project and i am liking this project can not wait too see how it turns out, i just recently got the Antec nine hundred case myself for my DFI landparty mobo and been looking at ideas on what little modifications i can do to it, such as the led's Twizted did on the 200mm fan would be nice. | ||

| Not to be rude but Twizted wasn't the only one bizy...The top mesh for the fan is..ehm was.... that hex mesh. I pulled that out and am going to make acrylic fins for the top. To do this I had to fill in the tray and remove the i/o plate. The power and reset switches will be replaced with vandal switches. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now why I was looking for a better filler to the top seams I went ahead and mounted the side LCD. First we had to center the lcd in the panel. ![]() With the center marked, I fliped the moniter over to find the center on the mounting holes. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now to pull it back off and trim the excess material off the edges.... A little at a time folks....still have more to go before I am up to date with the images and progress of this mod. | ||

| Nope i understand i should have said your doing a great job also Lokie my bad sorry, i like the way it is going so far, have you decided on a color you be going with for the theme of the case, also with the mounting of the LCD mounted on mobo side would that effect the heat of the case being i know a LCD give of alot of heat them self, i know you had mentioned that the case will have lots of fans and i was just curios with all the fans if it would be enough to keep it cool. Again i am sorry did not mean to leave you out, your doing a superb job of this new project you started. | ||

| Nice job Lokie, I like what you did with that odd-looking "step" up top, to smooth it out and make it into a ramp instead. The 900 is a great case for modding and aircooling, but the stock top tiered thing reminds of of those rice paddies in Vietnam. Love the LEDage in that big fan too! | ||

Thanks lafez, I did infact shoot a video over at the ModNation hangout which is on YouTube (produced by Bill from The Mod Nation).. That is about the closest thing I have done in regard to a tutorial on PCB etching.. I may eventually do another one with even more of the process explained if I can find the time... Hope to see the video up soon... I have seen it in person and it lights up like a mofo.. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I will probably shoot that tomorrow. Some of you will notice a change in scenery, hence the new bench. I'm still pondering the final layout of the window, so I will continue with the routing of the video cable for the monitor mounted on the side. I was contemplating on haven Twizted shorten the video cable but, if it ain't broke don't fix it, was my final choice. After measuring it out it's only an extra 12". That can be tucked behind the panel if needed. This monitor is quiet simple, the power is supplied via an external brick and routed in the video cable. This saves allot of space for mounting. Progress thus far..... Like I said in the last post I had to pull the monitor off to trim the original mounting holes off for a cleaner look. First step was pulling apart the LCD. I love theses new cans from life savers, the snap lid holds tight and is easy to pop off and make excellent screw containers. ![]() ![]() Inside there is the controller for the LCD and the inverter for the CCs. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now to trim off the fat...err excess metal. ![]() ![]() That looks much better... ![]() Next up, routing the VGA cable... | ||
