| So im making a site and they need forums. I dont know any PHP or VB though I could learn a little. What i really want to so though is to just use some precoded/configured that all I need to do is customize. I need something slick intuitive and esay to admin because even though im designing the site im not going to be the Webmaster. What do you guys use or what suggestions do you have? | ||

| Okay, I know, you don't know any VB or PHP and you're looking for a template, but - ever herd of TWISTED-PYTHON? If you are using a linux server or could set one up, twistedmatrix.com (web: www.twistedmatrix.com) has a project that allows you to program servers with Python. It also lets you create a web server to serve files out of a directory very easily. EXAMPLE: in the shell: mktap web --path path/to/directory It also supports something called .rpy. RPY is provides similar reults to PHP or VB but it is basically writen in python. I find it very easy to use and HEY, I am 15! I know this isn't exactly what you were hoping for but I hope it helps . | ||

the most renouned is phpbb (php bulletin board, www.phpbb.com)..this software is easy to setup, use, admin, and also integrates well into phpnuke (a cms (content management system)) as well as a gallery (gallery.menalto.com).. all these are highly reccommended installed on linux, but mine (www.eclipsedbydesign.net) is working fine on a windows 2k3 box (took some tweaking, but it works | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I knew alot of people use PHPBB just trying to decide which was the best im just responsible for designing the site none of the hosting options are up to me so im gonna go with the phpbb. I could probably do the twisted python given more time im pretty good in C++ and Java but neither of them are gonna get a forum done. Although my friend did makes some forums in Perl but those arent easy on the eyes and are hell to admin(until he writes the scripts for that too). Thanks for the suggestions. | ||
