how the heck is base building supposed to be the equivalent to the character creation? you need a ton of active players in your sg to even get a base started!!
while I think CoV is good, I didn't think it was good enough to win game of the year but then again they do say that 2005 was a weak year for mmorpgs so the award is kind of tarnished. the only other titles were Guild Wars, Irth Online, and Matrix Online.
