Question A question about LEDs

(I've had a few beers tonite, so bear with me)

I pose a question to those who are more knowledgable (sp...beer influenced remember? ) in the way of electronics and wiring than I. (which includes everyone)

I want to connect six LEDs to single 12v switched power source. How would I go about this in a manner that will not screw up the power distribution to the LEDs, so they will each provide the same amount of light?

I'm afraid I'm not sure as to what the exact voltage for each LED is. The LEDs I bought were originally meant for automotive use. They can't possibly be 12v each can they?

That should help you with any questions you have...also depends on white kidn of leds you have..i bought orange leds and burned a few of them because they only take 1.7 volts a led instead of 3 like a blue led.

Thanks for that link, m3_tw0, It was very helpful.

Now I have another query for our pimps....how should I wire these up in sequence? Does anyone recommend a way to wire these up besides using loose hanging wires?

Perhaps a kind of junction block consisting of speaker wire tabs or other type of block ? I want to be able to attach the source power at one point then attach the individual leds to multiple points on the block.

Something similar to this:

POWER SOURCE

+/- -----||------ +/- <------LED

+/- -----||------ +/- <------LED

+/- -----||------ +/- <------LED

Wich ever you use to hook them up. It pos to neg to each led.

I would need to see what you wanted to use as a junction block.

But still its pos to neg to each led.

And still need to know what you voltage for the leds, if they are under 2.0 volt you would need a resister.

I just run led to led. less wire that way.
