Default The Ultimate Case for a Pirate- This is a Monster!

Lian Li PC-343B Modular Cube Case - Black

This case manufactured (but not designed) by Lian-Li features 18 external 5.25 drive bays! It would be great for installing 18 DVD burners and duplicating DVDs to sell in high school bathrooms and dark alleys.

It can be preordered for $334.99 and will be released on October 23.

YARRRRR!!!! Thats pretty sick. (not that im a pirate or anything..) Yeah the RIAA will probably record the credit card numbers of anyone that buys one It would be sooo expensive though, 335 for the case, and then the fact that a lot of new mobos only have 1 ide channel...you'd need so many controller cards But o man if you did hook it up...

Making a rig with 18 DVD burners would be pretty sweet...

I can get 17 of these dvd burners for around $500. I would need to also buy a second power supply or maybe a third for all the drives. I could probably get a bulk discount on the DVD burners though.

Does anyone know of a good place to get server motherboards?

For the DVD burners, why not just get a bunch of PCI IDE controller cards? I would need 4 of them.

I have a Pentium 3 1 GHz and 256 MB of RAM for it laying around. This motherboard would be perfect. It supports my Pentium 3 and have 5 PCI slots!

I know, silly to pick on a $330 case for this, but why put the PSU on the other half of the case than the mobo? This means you have to get an extension unless you have the exact right combo of mobo and PSU.

I had a smaller "double-wide" (8x5.25 on one side, 2x3.5 on the other) and it had that problem... the PSU was in about the same place, and it meant when I replaced my ECS K7S5A (socket at the very top) I needed an extension.

Erm, those bays aren't for DVD burners, no sir! Um, they're for, er, WATER COOLING GEAR! Yeah, those bays are for big 'ol resevoirs, LCD screens for temperature data, and flow indicators!

Yup, nothing like good 'ol watercooling when overclocking your C2D. You need all that cooling so that your C2D will be fast enough to compress all those movies and tracks into MPEG-4 and MP3 over lunch. Then you can stick 'em in one of those hard drives in one of your 5.25" hard drive silencers or burn 'em with your 4 burners.

Oops, er, forget that last part.

Can you say 4 Terabyte Server (if you use all 250Gb Drives) 8Tb if you use 500Gb Drives..

But who has that kinda of money...? Hell you might as well get top of the line equipment and phase change cooling!.

Just get some 12 gage stranded wire, 14 or 10 may work for the short
distance, then solder them? You could stelth most of the system that way.

However you implement it, it's still a matter of making cables longer. And for those of us who like PSU warranties, extension cables are the way to go.

I saw the case tonight, and all I could think of was putting MNPCTech's blank bay covers on each and every one of those 18 drive bays... $361 shipped... HouseHold Six would kill me in a second over that...

Yep, because if you buy a case that big, you already don't have any taste, so get some more blinky things!

I am with you i would not mind having that case to go along with my 2 UFO cases, definitely would be something i would really consider on sending it to MNPCTech's for some awesome theme and paint job with those blank bay covers, now if i only had the cash to do it..

Possibly, but I'm a mid-tower kind of guy so I can't say that I have the same viewpoint as some other folks that would put some serious consideration into buying big cases. Who knows what kind of art they see in something like that?

I wouldn't be surprised that a modder with some tools, skill, and a hell of a lot of inspiration could turn that case into a work of art.

That case does indeed have SCSI written all over it. Definetly not for the artsy type, more utilitarian than anything else.

Interesting that Xoxide uses this phrase "Designed by a crack squad of Norwegian super-nerd engineers with the intent on creating the ultimate modular case, perfected and manufactured by the king da pimp of cases,".

There's that word "pimp" again.

Here's a ninja case:

That case is just damn beautiful. Pure computing perfection like that just gives me a woody. Luckily, I've got a hot wife to take care of those problems..
