When is the hdd led supposed to come on?

I changed my power and hdd led's to blue ones. The power is always on but the hd doesnt come on. Is the hd led only supposed to come on during certain operations like starting a program, saving, bootup?

It's supposed to come on whenever there is HDD activity. Try opening a large file or installing a program and watch the led. If it doesn't light up try reversing the connector on the mobo.

Right phoe, It only lights up during hard drive activity, like moving files and the other instances you mentioned.
Its similar to the LED indicator in your Cd drive.

If you mean it only lights occasionally, as opposed to full time, it sounds like its working fine.

yeah. if its not lighting up at all, check your connections and if they're good reverse the polarity. Light Emitting DIODE. they only work one way.

Make sure you have the right LED to match the voltage of the wires...I've heard that can sometimes cause problems
