| Apex Techie Wannabe | Ok, I am relatively knew to actual case modding. My experience with rig building is just using a bought case and putting the rig together. No actual physical modifications, but I think the time has come for me to try some fun stuff. I have my idea for my first mod job, probably too far over my head but I will give it a shot. My question is this: Does the input fans/size need to equal the output fans/size? Just applying simple physics I would assume that would be the case for constant efficient airflow. On my current rig, I have two 90mm inputs and 2 90mm outputs. I did not take into account the PSU fan blowing air out, I guess I should think about correcting that. My current rig runs loud, but I think that is just because I need to get some low dB fans. I am constantly thinking it is running hot too, but that could be paranoia cause this was the first time I had mounted a heatsink on a processor (when my mobo burned out a couple months ago). Thanks for any help, Liquid | |

Firstly - WELCOME TO PC APEX!!! As far as input/output fans go, there are no hard and fast rules, so no - it doesn't matter THAT much If you are concerned about noise, the main culprits are usually the CPU, northbridge and GPU fans - maybe think about getting a different set of coolers as well as a fan controller for the existing case fans As for temps - how hot is everything getting? post some temps (as well as your system specs) we can let you know if you need to worry or not ![]() | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Thanks for the warm welcome. I have been thinking about getting a fan controller and maybe that is just what I need to tone down the sound on the 5 fans right now. I will post my processor temps, I will try to get it with a utility program instead of in my BIOS since the gaming seems to be when the CPU fan gets the loudest. Any advice on temp monitoring programs for my desktop? I found a few freebies so will see how those work. Currently running a Pent 3.06 with a new Asus Mobo and a Nvidia 5700 GT (so not the big boy). I will get you the specs from the mobo and the other info. I appreciate the help on this. Liquid | |

| I like Speed Fan for temp monitoring, you can find it in the link below, it has an awesome charting tool, and if configured properly, can change the fan speeds on ones that are connected to the motherboard http://forums.pcapex.com/other_oc_ha...ollection.html | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Well, I guess all my paranoia was unwarranted. Getting a top temp around 42 C after a couple hours of gaming, case temp a lil lower than that. I checked the death point for my Proc and it is like 69 C so I think I am good. Thank you for those helpful links, going to try out a couple. I also do not know how many fans are linked directly to my mobo, will have to see how many can be hooked up. Liquid | |
