| So i've recently modded a case tottaly black and decided that tinted windows would go very well. I've looked around on the web and on this forum for advice and tips on how to apply window tint to plexiglass and have to this date tinted 3 windows. One window looks perfect (the first one I did), but the other two look terrible. Now....here's how i'm going about it. I fill my sink with a little bit of water and add a very small amount of baby shampoo as it fills up. The water is room temperature bordering warm. I then peel the protective layer off the tint and lay it down on one corner. Now after this I have tried a couple different things. The first time I just layed the tint down immediatley, flattened it with a squeege (a hard plastic one) and the thing came out great. The second time I layed down one corner and used the squeege to assure that there were no bubbles, I then applied the rest of the tint slowly, using the squeege as I went. This method turned out terrible! There were white spots all over the opposite side indicating massive amounts of air bubbles. I tried laying down the entire thing again, but it still turned out as bad as the second time. I'd rather not waste any more tint or plexiglass, so if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, or has a technique that works for them...please post!! I really would like some input here, so all you tint pimps please help. Thanks | ||

| I was typing a pretty informative reply, then accedentally closed my firefox... so I'm bout outta typin' steam... When you apply the tint, put the soapy water in a sprayer bottle. Lay the window horizontally on some towels so it doesn't get scratched or break. Make sure the window is CLEAN... use lint free towels and streak free window cleaners. Spray soapy water all over the area of the window you plan on tinting. Don't skimp, you can never have too much... but too little and you might get air bubbles early. Now prepare your tint. Use a piece big enough so that it over laps the edges of the window... you can trim away the excess. Lay it down on a table sticky side up, and remove the protective backing... spray a bit of soapy water on it so your fingers don't stick or leave any oil and prints on it. Now apply the tint to the window. Using a faily hard squeegie, start from the middle and squeeze the water out from under the tint. Don't apply too much pressure, or the tint will move... I find using some soapy water under your squeegie helps it glide over the tint. Once you have most of the water out from under the tint, trim the excess tint from the window. Continue to squeegie the tint, using increased pressue. Force all the air bubbles out towards the edges. Once it's all done, allow the tint to dry for at least 10-12 hours before you use it. Hopefully, that will help you a bit. | ||

| Thank you so much jobistober! I was under the assumption that less water was better =O The most recent attempt I even shook the plexi to dry it a little before applying the tint. I'm gunna try again tommorrow, but I now the results will be great. Thanks a bunch | ||
