| If anyone here has ever built or modded a custom rig for a friend (or a friend of a friend), then you may be able to help me out here. I am going to be building a computer from scratch for a buddy of mine. Now he's not too close of a friend (he's actually one of my brother's good chums), so I would like to make a little profit to put towards my next mod. Right now I am charging him $25 ontop of parts for assembly, and $30 ontop of supplies for modding. I am also getting a really good deal on a CPU/Mobo proc from a buddy, and have some spare parts lying around, so I figure I should be able to make some dough. The real question lies in the modding aspect. How much would you guys charge for a custom mod? I figure I will probly use about $35-$40 in paint, $10 for some new dremel bits, and probly around $30 for new lights and fans. How much should I charge for doing the mod? I have some dremel experiance, and will be doing a quite demanding mod. I figure I should be able to cut and paint the computer in the span of about 2 weeks. Is $25 too little? I'm thinking I might charge $40 for my modding time alone. | ||

I would do everything first, add the amount of every thing and add like 35$ for labor http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...575&CatId=1181 theres a good deal, or if he just surfs the net get a cheap celeron | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| i would probably take around 50-150 bucks depending on how in depth the modding is and how much they wanna spend total...i mean you have got to give yourself at least 5 bucks an hour...and chances are you will probably spend more than 7 hours with the installation/modding/etc... however i do suggest before u tack on that money you take into account the amount of money u spent specifically for the project./..like don't charge them for all 20 fiberglass cutting wheels...if you use three...do the math and charge them for three | ||

| Yea im gonna say the same ask him how much hes willing to spend and then tell him its not enough, if hes really desperate, and if hes seen some of your work, go with a 25-30% labor cost, parts and estimated costs or the parts you have, then take the percentage and add it on, once i finsih my mod, and work with a few orders i already have, i figure about 30 bucks for the case work ontop of the 50 for supplies, and 20 for the case, then ill round it up, but that only my one order the other is a 6ft lighthouse PC floorstanding, but thats one of those im willing to pay anything for this, just do it right | ||

| for the modding aspect of it, i would say at the end when you're done, tack on maybe somewhere around 50 dollars for paint etc and for labor maybe 50...that's what i would do depending on how much time etc it took me. You could charge him for the modding aspect hourly but that could amount to a lot. But, that's also another good option. If i did it that way, i would do maybe 2-3 dollars an hour. | ||
