I guess you are talking about Car CD player?

Probably possible. 12V is 12V no matter where it comes from more or less.

You would need some kind of custom bracket and a bit of soldering and wiring to connect the power wires etc. One question though... why? lol

You planning on using as your main stereo in your room? Hooking up to some freestanding speakers?

Mark

EDIT: Just looking at the front of my PC... a 5.25 looks like it might be too narrow...

Yea its a car cd player....
not really necessary, but it would look pretty cool on the front. It would be my main stereo (no room for another one in this cramped dorm room..lol). I have some technic floor speakers that i could use with it.

Getting it to work would be easy enough - just getting it to fit may be your only problem.

Only one way to find out! lol

A pass though from the Alpine to the rear of the computer for the audio cables might work, but is it possible to mod a CDROM audio cable to transfer the left and right signals straight to the CDROM header on a sound card or mobo?

Probably possible but i reckon you would risk blowing up the sound card.

Even if its a pretty basic Alpine its going to be outputting 4x40W (about 4 x 10-15 RMS)...

Say you just fade all to the front, thats still 2 x 10 = 20W being pumped into the soundcard...

Not sure i would be happy about that! lol

Please correct me if im wrong though... have no idea how much power a soundcard can take

Maybe the deck has a line-level output (intended for an external amplifier) which could be fed into the sound card safely?

all car cd players are around 7 inches wide, you will need moddin to make that fit.
