Default Replacing PCI-E 6 pin connector

A friend of mine bought an open box Sapphire X1900XTX last week, and bought a molex to PCI-E adapter for power thinking it would work (I would assume it would too).

Well the pins on the connector don't match the pins on the card. This is the pin order:

Notch - Square - Square
Square - Notch - Notch

As you know, the top middle square should have the notches on the corners. We looked every where around town and NO ONE has a damn molex to PCI-E adapter that fits right. We did, however, find just the connector. So we need to just swap the two. My question is.. How? Can we just use a female molex pin remover or small screw driver of some sort? Or are these a litte more difficult than that?

Know the luck we've been having with his computer, probably a little more difficult. Haha.

Thank you for time and help!

You are talking about changing out the male connector from the molex to PCI-e, right?
Not the connector on the card.

I'd try the molex remover. If that doesn't work, operate.

Yeah, on the adapter. The pins are a bit smaller than molex, so I don't think a molex pin remover will work. But I imagine a small jewlers screw driver could do the job.

Well, if you're really carefull, I'd cut the wires out of the old connector.

Do you know which wires go to which port?

Yep. We just wanted to do as little cutting as possible. I think we're just going to order an adapter off of newegg and hope it's the right one this time. If not, I guess we'll be doing some cutting and soldering.
