| When I was sleeving my psu, a pin on one of the female molex was giving me a difficult time, and after messing with it for a considerable amount of time, I resorted to using brute force even though I knew it would end this way - I broke it. I've ordered plenty of replacement pins, but what is the most efficient way of removing the broken one, and attaching the new one? Thanks | ||

| Molex Pin remover ![]() Im sure you can find a better deal but thats what you need. As for adding them im not sure about that. | ||

| Maybe I should specify: I don't need to remove the molex pin from the connector, I need to remove it from the wire itself. Ive removed the wire crimp, but I can't find an easy way to remove the conductor crimp. A razor blade is the closest thing I can find to remove it, but it's not working too well. Is replacing it a simple matter of reversing the process? | ||

| You mean as in simply put a new molex pin over the broken one and crimp them together? I ordered a ton of gold plated pins, which I hope doesn't cause problems considering all the other molex pins are well...not gold. Thanks for the advice guys. | ||

| HAHA no, sorry I forget some people take advice to strict... After you have cut the wires to length strip of the sheilding about a 1/4 of an inch and crimp on the new pin. If you bought new pins, I would hope you get the crimping tool...even though pliers works to. I do hope this is why you are pulling the pins. | ||

| So I just got my replacement pins today. But the old one hasn't come off yet. I'd rather not cut the wire off at the pin and make a new one. Not to be stubborn, but I want to beat this crimp! Here's a pic to specify what I'm trying to get off. ![]() Thanks again | ||

| So I cut the wires to length, and crimped the pin on w/ pliers, which was, well...messy. Does it matter if some of the wire is sticking out of the crimps? Also, for future reference, where can I get a molex pin crimping tool? Let's just say the job I did on this one didn't turn out so pretty, though I believe it will suffice, also it is one of the ground wires so it's probably safe. Lokie I can't see how you can fit those two cables into that crimp, unless you have some really fine needle-nose pliers. I only had normal pliers available at the time, so it was tough. Enough of my rambling, though. Thanks a bunch for the advice guys! | ||

| It takes time to get it down with pliers, it is more of the ghetto way but it can be done. This is a molex crimping tool. A little wire sticking out wont matter, unless its so long that the wire can stick out of the molex, basicly what is your definition of a little? After you do a couple you will see exactly what length you need and improve from there. | ||

| Oh, I stripped the wires to length, ect. But when I was attempting to crimp it, the strands kept coming out and going crazy, and after I thought I got it crimped right, the insulation crimp came undone and the whole friggin thing popped out. Yes, I ordered one of those from Frozencpu around 4 days ago, hasn't got here yet though. I couldn't really find one for "cheap", the D-sub crimps looked about the same, but I didn't want to buy one that would half-ass it, like I did . Hopefully I can remove this last head without cutting the wires again, otherwise it will look ridiculous with two wires around an inch shorter than the others. Thanks again for the help. | ||

| You might want to grab both an auto wire stripped and an electronics crimper that works with molex and ATX pins. Then, as Loki mentioned, practice first on scrap wire. I took a quick photo of these two tools I have so you have an idea of what they look like... ![]() On another note, I ordered regular non-gold-plated molex pins from FrozenCPU and then shipped me gold-plated pins. They probably ran out of the regular ones, but their prices are high so they're still making a profit selling me the others. I got the gold for a little cheaper, even though it won't matter because PC devices all had aluminum or steel power plugs. | ||

| Well, after waiting a week to receive a molex pin remover instead of the crimper, I finally received what I originally ordered. It took me a couple of tries to figure out how the pin is oriented in the crimper (are you suprised?), but I finally got it, and it totally kicks ass. Thanks a lot for the help guys | ||
