A little update....

The alternator died on my car on Tuesday so I spend 12 hours getting the old one out and putting the new one in. The car does run better now.

But it looks like the project will be put on hold for a bit. I went a head and canceled my credit card; the interest rate was just to damn high, looks like I will have to pay for it the old fashion way hehe.

I sent the idea off to Performance-PCs and they are going to get back to me with a quote soon so I can get an idea of the price.

But in the mean time I got my self some new RAM

2GB of OCZ PC4000 Plat. EL




I am going to get all the upgrades out of the way first before I get my new case.

The only other thing I am going to upgrade is my HD, gunna get a 10K raptor soon. Then on to the new case.

Not sure if I will paint the inside, do you have any ideas on color?

I could paint it white and then use that cool UV blue spray, and it is clear so it would only be blue with the uv on, that is how mine is now....well the back pannel..you can kinda see it in the pic.

The only problem on frosting the edges is how to do it in photoshop so when they laser etch it it looks good....anyone got any ideas?

I am hopeing to get it started within the next month or 2. I hope I hope I hope

i was thinkin white as well .....
i also had another idea which might b a bit tedious for the inside but thats ur call .....to actually hand paint thin lightblue lines randomly .....or sponge on light coats of a really light blue paint ......
it would add more depth to the colour ....
or u could do the reverse using a really light blue with white lines etc to add depth ....

juz a thought for the frosting ...u could sponge on light layers of white paints to create the effect ....
the sponge would need really little amounts of paint which are nearly dry ...so near minimal amount is left on the window ..... pm me and i can explain it a bit betta

It sucks that I had to put off the project for a bit but I will prob be able to get her up and going before the end of next month.

Another Idea I had was to do something like your blue paint idea.

Paint the inside a base white and then insted of covering the whole inside with clear UV blue paint (so it shows up only when the PC is on) mask off lightning bolts and then paint it. So when the UV ccfls hit it you can see blue lightning bolts show up, ya know kinda like invisible paint

That is also a good Idea for the frosting. The good thing about using paint if it did not come out the way I wanted it to I could always remove it and start over. I just dont want to over do it. My mother once used a frost spray paint to frost an old lamp to make it look better. I could use that, just spray in on the sopnge and then dab it on the window.

I think I will work on some ideas and then draw some plans up...not that my art skills are very good but just enough to give me a plan. That is one of the reasons I want to do another project, I love the way my case I have now came out but I could have gone a bit slower and planed it better.

Ok kids I am digging up this old thread bc I finally have the money to go head and buy the case and start working on it.

My only problem is that I am having a tough time coming up with an idea for an etch. I like the one I did above however I would like to add some 'Ice' elements to it. I am looking for image files that I could edit in photoshop to add to the etch....

Things like frost, ice cubes, ice, or anything along those lines. The hard part is finding ones that are simple with a white background so that they will be easer to edit.....

So if any one could help a brother out there would be some rep in it for ya

Thanks ranger, however I was looking for something closer to nature, like the way frost looks on a window....kinda like this...but in very simple colors...I will not be using the whole picture to cover the window, just something to create a frosted look around the edge of the window....
