| Ok i just started modding within the last month, ive got my tower all prepped, rounded glow in the dark ide cables, 12" cold cathode blue light, all the wiring tubed and bundled out of the way......BTW thanks to all the awesome modders out there who gave me the great ideas and inspired me to step out on a limb and hack my pc case all to hell Now after reading many forum posts, i saw that Lexan was a very well liked window type, so i went out and picked up a couple 16x20 peices of it, now back to my question, i am a dremel pro with other crafts, but i havent ever cut a plexiglass type material before.....what cutting wheel would you guys suggest? 409,420,426, or maybe the big hog 540? or something totally differant? Also, i want to put a 80mm clear fan in the window, whats the best way to cut the whole in the lexan? or should i just mount the extra fan elsewhere? Also i still have yet to cut the hole in the case door yet, which cutting disc would you guys suggest? I appreciate the help guys, any info is much appreciated. | ||

| Hey Zerodude thats great, for complete info on the folding@home program visithttp://folding.stanford.edu. I have posted a complete tutorial on how to sign up on this thread. Folding@home is basicly a very simple program. All it does is run in the background and donate your unused CPU cycles that would go to waste, to help crunch numbers in simulations of protien folding. This goes towards helping scientists solve dieases like Alztimers, and diebeties, and more. Its that simple. For more details just visit http://folding.stanford.edu. Or ask any questions. | if you want to put in a fan on the front of your case, under the power and restart button, how would you suggest going about it knowing that behind the plastic is the aluminum case? am i going to have to cut through the aluminum as well as the plastic? also, a question about painting. do you think i'll be able to get a great paintjob painting by myself with auto paint and clear coat, or should i try to have an auto body shop paint my case? i know an auto body shop would do a great job but i'm cheap and i wanna do it myself, can i get the same results? playpool EDIT- P.S i just DLed folding@home and i am currently running under Team Pimprig.com. GO PIMPRIG! Last edited by playpool; 03-October-02 at 01:22 AM.. | ||

| Not sure what case you have, but i just finished doing the mod your asking about for the front fan....most cases have a front intake hole for the fans, if not then yes youll have to cut one in the skeletal portion and in the plastic case on the front.....not that hard. And as for the paint job, you wouldnt even use auto paint, just get some good old fashioned krylon from your local home depot or wherever in the color you want and throw a few coats of that down followed with a sealer/clear coat, you have a case thats the color you want it and looking good.....read the articale in insomniacs paintshop its very informative.....dont pay someone else to do the job for you. | ||

Thanks for joining playpool...... if you can, post an image of you case, or at least tell what case it is so i can find, but even if you have to cut though aluminum is not hard as long as you have the right tools and take your time. I wouldnt pay an autobody shop to do the case, unless you had the cash to blow.....and personaly you dont need auto paint to make it look good, but if you have it its all the better. Insomniac is the best person to ask any paint questions to (our resident Paint Pimp) If you have the right tools for auto paint you could do a great job....... If you have any specific painting questions, start a new thread so people find it easier(also makes it eaiser to search for if someone later on wants to find it) | |||||||||||||||||||||
