| Well, here are the promised preview pics of the up-till-now top secret Gothic Gargoyle case project! Check out all the pics here. Keep in mind that it's missing some stuff, should be finished in a week or so, which is why I won't post in the gallery just yet. I need 2 low-profile side exhaust fans (D-W helping me out big-time there! Thanks man!); 3 custom fan grilles of my own design, and all credit to the cutting goes to hiruko13; I need to get my GF3 that I borrowed to a friend in the interim so I can install Win98SE and Linux, the GF2 in there now is a flaky POS that goes garbled after a few minutes. I also need to find a long ribbon cable on the inside that connects the USB header on the mobo to my front USB ports; the ones I have now are about 2" too short! Overclocking and such to follow soon. P4 1.6A Northwood; Asus P4S533 mobo; 256M Corsair XMS2400 DDR RAM; Maxtor 40G HDD; 52X AOpen CD-ROM (red LED mod); floppy with red LED mod; front blowhole fan with quad red LED mod; that's about it, I guess. Enjoy the pics, let's hear your comments/criticisms! ![]() ![]() Last edited by Coelacanth; 19-September-02 at 03:56 AM.. | ||

| That is total sweetness Coel! Is that Flex-Stone paint? The power button is pure evil....I'd be scared to turn it on in fear of it sucking my soul through the intake fans. Gotta love the glowing eyes too. I had thought of something similar awhile back....but is was a bit morbid LOL.I haven't seen a CPU pipe quite like that one either. That one piece looks a bit like a K & N air filter.... I have a secret project in mind, but I haven't laid out the full plan yet. It involes some aluminum welding.....which I don't have access to any equipment like that yet, but possibly soon. The wife just took my budget away for a few months. But it will win Rig Of The Month.......when its done.![]() EDIT: Oh nm on the paint question, I finally saw the krylon cans....haven't seen any of that here in Texas.....just Flex-Stone. I used a ring cut from a tapered flowerpot to act as an adapter between the 70mm Thermaltake Volcano 7+ fan and the black plastic PVC 'elbow' pipe. A lot of work, but worth it. I'll do some temperature testing once I get my GF3 back from my friend and install Windows. But the BIOS readings look pretty good so far, at least when I crank the 7+ up to max speed. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Very cool and very original Coel =) I like this case a lot! The Keep was always one of my favorite movies, I'm glad to see that cross incorporated into your design Are you planning anything for the other side of the case beneath the motherboard tray? Lookin good man. You should replace your windows startup music with something evil! | ||

| Thanks a lot guys! The figures are small gargoyles that you can buy at any goth store, or even some gift shops that sell unusual stuff. I was originally planning to have 3 gargoyles on top, but when I saw that dragon skull, it was just perfect; I knew right away that I would be drilling it out from the inside and getting some red lights underneath it! The same thing for the front ram-horned skull; as soon as I saw it (it was a full hollow skull), I was picturing it on the front of the case with the teeth 'chewing' on my custom fan grille. I only had to cut off a part of the back so it was flush with the front of the case, and put red lights behind. I was sitting around wondering what cool stuff I was going to do with IDE activity LEDs when it suddenly struck me: "Hey, why not drill a couple holes in the center of the eye-socket regions, and have the skull with blue flickering eyes whenever the drives are active?!" It seems quite obvious now, but up until that point, I wasn't sure what I was going to do for IDE activity. Thanks all for the feedback! | ||
