| I have an idea for an experimental cd-rom stealth. The top drive bay cover on a case of mine, petrudes from the case about an inch. It also has 2 holes for LEDs on it. One beneath the other. So I wanted to make use of them. So I had an idea for a special steath. I want to make it so that the top LED (Which I think should be green) would be constantly on, except for when the bottom Red LED is on. I want to make a circut so that when you push a corner of the drive bay cover, the red LED cuts on and shuts the green one off, also, I want a delay before the CD tray pops out. The order of things that I want to happen: 1. The green LED is on 2. Button is pressed 3. Green LED turns off, thus turning on the red one. 4. a one second delay. 5. the CD tray opens. Then after I put in a new one: 1. the red LED is on 2. Either I push on the drive or I hit a button on the drive bay cover 3. CD tray retracts and closes 4. one second delay 5. red LED turns off and the green one turns on. | ||

| I won't be done for a long time. I am still no were near finnished with the planning. I am still hammering out ways to make it work the way I want it to on paper. I was asking if anyone here would know exactly how to do this, or if anyone could give me any tops. I was also toying with the idea of turning the bottom three drive bays into a stealthed drawer. You could store a joypad or a digital camera in it. You could also put some cables and a mouse in it, when you are on your way to a LAN party. I never thought that I would already be using stuff that I learned in electronics in real life applications. Looks like I have to break open that text book. I would have to hurry to finnish the schematic. I have to turn back in my book on thurday. Thursday is my electonics EOC.Last edited by KilJaeden; 26-May-03 at 06:34 PM.. | ||

| An expansion idea just hit me. Maybe I should not even bother with pushing on the drive bay cover, I could have a control switch implanted on the left over floppy cover. So that there isnlt just a lone switch, I could Also add a switch to turn on and off the interior lights so that I do not have to reach around to the back of the computer to turn it off. | ||

| Ok, I think that I have got the right schematic down. I think that the switch that I need to do this is a dual limiter switch. (If there is such a thing. I know that I will need a dual whatever type of seitch that the cd-rom drive uses. I also will need a 555 Timer IC. I think I need 555. I need it for the delay of the opening of the cd-rom. But I think that I will delay both of them and cause no lights to apear for the alotted time. I am a little confused and will hammer out more of it tomarrow, when I talk to my electonics teacher. | ||

| I have a rough design of the circutry done. I think that I need to know which switch the cd-rom uses in the first place. I think that it uses a limiter DPST switch. The design that I currently have drawn up won't quite work right. WIth the schematic the delay of the drive would work and the LEDS would work. The problem is, is that I can not figure out how to make the lights change when the switch is thrown. Since there is only one throw. Is it possible for the CD-ROM to work useing a DPDT switch? If so, can you give me a schematic of how it would work or just a simple explanation. | ||
