| Hi. I'm about to put together my first custom computer with a friend. I'm not quite sure if it matters, but its going to be a AMD Athlon 64 3800 X2 and 2 gigs of nice ram, meaning I'm going to want at least one side to be a window to show it off. Anyways, I have to choose a case. I must have spent at least four hours searching cases on newegg and overclocker cafe. Among my favorites are the: Kingwin SK-523SW: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811170022 and the Thermalike Tsunami: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811133132 I have already detrmined I need a case with a window, and I want to get a good simple case that will allow me to do simple modding in the future (I have no experience with modding to this day). If anyone could suggest a good simple case that functions well and has a glass window, or any feedback whatsoever, that would be much appreciated. Thanks | ||

| Welcome to PR! Both of the cases you linked have a decent amount of "styling" already. If you want to mod a case, I recommend something with plain looks and solid internals. That way the look (when it's done) will be personalized rather than influenced by the starting appearance. I agree with J-Dogg that the trashcan is the best place to find nice cases for modding, especially if you're just getting started. That way if you make a wrong cut or put on a hideous paintjob, just toss it and find another one. Don't worry about finding a windowed case to start with, either. Adding a window is a good "first mod" anyhow, so why not start there? | ||

| Apex Master Tech Apprentice | yeah, i agree with this 2 guys above me ... bionic and J-dogg... if you really want to mod, start from scratch .... buy the most generic (25-30 $) case out there. take this one for example .... the case cost me 32 $ ..... it had nothing but a clear side (very small) window ..... but thats merely the fun of it ... later down the road i dremeled a bigger window along with some top and front holes .... ![]() | |

| Here is a case that I saw posted a while back in the Deals and Steals forum. Decent price and looks like it has some modding potential. http://dealsonic.com/dealsonic/skmssialatxm.html | ||

Those cases are awesome, but how the **** do you find out the price or even buy one of them. Also, have you tried this before? It's just what i'm looking for, something that I could always "pimp" out, so to speak if I got bored. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Bahh, don't go acrylic, that's the wimp way out! Seriously, adding a window to a case is the easiest thing it the world. Cut it out and glue a piece of plexi behind it. Find yourself a case with plenty of drive bays or fan slots, whatever you want, and go from there. I do recommed finding a front panel that you like the look of, because that's often one of the more complex bits to mod. | ||

| yeah i got this case dude http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811156054 it's simple so you can mod it anyway you want.. but what sucks is, they use rivets.. so you gotta drill them all, but hey, what's the fun of modding without working right? hehe | ||

| I understand thats the wimpy way out, but I need to get a case really soon for an upcoming LAN party at a friends, and I thought, what better way to show off my new rig then to get an acrylic. Whether you agree that there is a better way to show it off or not, what is the most reasonable or best clear case out there. Afterwards, I'm going to mess around with some old Dell cases I found in my garage. I promise. | ||
