Default Flame polishing plexi????

ok I havn't done much with plexi other crack and break it trying to replace a broken window.
I'm trying a hd window mod (I know this will be good) I'm in the middle of cutting the hd cover
and have the plexi cut but want to polish the edges, I understand that heat melts the plastic to get a
polished finish.
before I do this any tips, recomendations or warnings before I try it?
This will be part of my Superman project .
Thanks.

/me shudders ...

Cut edges will be shiny when they are perfectly flat - not when they've been flamed. Use progressively finer grades of wet & dry paper (start at around 400 & finish around 2400 grit), then use cutting paste, then an aggressive polish, then a fine polish.

Cool any ideas on polishing aluminum? I've been trying for an hour and so far
got a shiney look but u can see the dremmel work, meaning lines instead of an
even chrome look if I can't get it soon I'll try finding chrome paint and testing it
on some scrap.

Try it and see. I was just saying what poped in my head, windex cleans metals and wd-40 cleans metals.

But seriously use a high grit sandpaper like 1000 then when ur done buffer it w/ some polish.

After using buffing compound with the dremel, hand polish with polishing compound. Take your time, it'll come out ok after you put some work into it.

I asked mnpctech about polishing up the billet aluminum pieces he sells (fan grills, etc), and he recommended:

"Use Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish

For mirror-like finish, wetsand w/ 600, 800, 1000,
1500 grit wet sandpaper than rub out finish w/ Mothers"

Hope that helps ya out... And post some pics of the outcome as well!

Well I don't have those grits of paper (yet) but I found some krokus paper.
After using that I can tell I should get those different grades of sandpaper ,cause
eventhou I'm getting a polished look I can see an orange peel type polished finish.
Gotta remove more material to get rid of it.
I just can't go overboard or the grill will be paper thin.
And thanks for the help!

btw I spent $30 bucks on some modding material so I should see some progress by tues.
( Igot modeay off )
